Yesterday, Chan's wife, Eleanor Mondale (daughter of Walter Mondale) passed away. Condolences to Chan and Eleanor's families. - w

Members Funkwire
Very sad. I got an e-mail from the Dakota Jazz Club on Friday announcing that the New Standards show that night was cancelled, and my heart sank. I had a feeling it was because of Eleanor's health. There was a lot of gossip about her in years past, but she was a really nice person, very funny, and when you saw her in person, stunning. RIP. Members Woody_in_MN
I never met Eleanor. We are not friends, but I met Chan, and most of the other Suburbs many years ago when I was trying to write a freelance piece on the Suburbs. Seems like things had been going pretty well for them lately - except for Eleanor's illlnes.
