Members Dr. Scottie C
This is Rolling Stone Magazines Top 100 Guitarist list of all time (in their "professional" opinion) ......they say the list was based on creativity, style, and raw talent. Members photon9
This list looks different from the one I have in a recent RS. They must put these lists out every few years. Lists like these are for entertainment purposes only. No one takes them seriously, not even the people that put them together.
Members Doctor Morbius
No Chet Atkins?!
Members BB123
I've never seen anyone that takes it seriously. Though I must say Hendrix at 1 is always there, and always right, imo. The rest...yeah.

Members Pine Apple Slim
All pretty much rock guys. Ergo no Chet Adkins , Joe Pass, Wes Montgomery, Carlos Montoya, John McLaughlin or Tony Rice, just to name a few.

Members GAS Man
To quote the words/lyrics of Frank Zappa, "Strictly Commercial" But it's not only that, it's also the narrow focus that the RS magazine uses. "Best guitarists" is a topic that few men, let along children journalists, should tackle. I know it needs to be done and readers want it to be done, but their results are always such utter bull{censored} if the context is taken literally. Members Help!I'maRock!
people actually pay attention to Rolling Stone?
Members cratz2
Any list of great guitarists that has Gilmour at 80 something and completely omits Chet Atkins and Brian Setzer should be enough to prevent ANY guitarist from ever opening another issue of that magazine. McLaughlin is no. 49...BUT...this list makes me think of two things: "politics" and "toilet paper". Guess which one we could essentially do without? Members Runner
Eddie Van Halen = #70 Nearvarna's Kurt Cobain = #12 Kurt Hamster ahead of Jeff Beck, the editors most be terminally {censored}tarded. They should change the name of the rag to Rolling Tard Magazine.
Members Doctor49
people actually pay attention to Rolling Stone? only people who want to know what they should be wearing. My first thought? There are a million things more useful to do.
Members Cobalt Blue
Ed Bradley's 60 Minutes interview with Bob Dylan: Bradley (as voiceover) That song ["Like A Rolling Stone"] was recently named by Rolling Stone magazine as the No. 1 song of all time. And he has 12 other songs on their list of the Top 500. Bradley (to Dylan): That must be good to have as part of your legacy. Dylan: Oh, maybe this week. But you know, the list, they change names, and you know, quite frequently, really. I don't really pay much attention to that. Bradley: But it's a pat on the back. Dylan: This week it is, but who's to say how long that's gonna last?

Members onerailunder
Joan Jett, one step above Dave Davies? Yeah, the whole list is kinda silly.
Members Hudman
Jeff Beck at #14? I am willing to bet Jeff Beck has had guitar techs better than some of the guys ranked above him on that list. EVH at #70? Give me a break........... When I look at that list it is obvious it was made by people that don't play guitar or understand music. I like their magazine, I wish they would stop with the top 100 list crap. They should change the name of the rag to Rolling Tard Magazine. Well Cobain wasn't the greatest guitar player but man that guy could write. I think this list combines both, so i can see why he is that high on the list.
