Members Lonnie99
How do I do it? I know how to check a loaded guard, just hook up a jack and tap the coils. How do I do single pickups? Anyone recommend a decent multimeter?

Members Bob411
If you have an extra output jack, temporarily hook up the pup, plug into amp, and tap. Last multimeter I bought at Menards.

Members 1001gear
Aw that's the old way. It's unreliable and takes too long. not to mention you have to decrypt the results. Tapping works also you can hover the thing over another guitar and check your knobs too.
Members Lonnie99
So I can just connect the two wires straight to a jack? Sounds easy enough. Thanks.
Members dabbler
So I can just connect the two wires straight to a jack? Sounds easy enough. Thanks. Yup. In fact I made a test cable by cutting one end off of an old guitar cable and putting clip leads on that end. It comes in handy for all kinds of things that you can tell plugged into an amp. Members BG76
TIP - This Holiday season go to Sears. Usually on Black Friday they have their $40 - $50 DMM for $10.00. This one at Home Depot only costs $10.00: http://www.homedepot.com/h_d1/N-5yc1v/R-202353292/h_d2/ProductDisplay?langId=-1&storeId=10051&catalogId=10053

Members honeyiscool
I use this multimeter: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003LCITWA/ref=oh_o00_s02_i00_details Auto-ranging, tests for capacitance, pretty much all I need.
Members diceman1000
You don't even need a jack. Plug you cable into your amp, wrap or tape the ground wire to the sleeve of the other end, wrap or tape the hot to the tip of the cable, and give the coils a little tap tap tap taparoo:thu:
