OT: How do you all feel about these "holograms" on stage now?

Before you know it, there will be holograms with artificial intelligence. Not long after, they'll demand a vote. And, once we reach the singularity, there'll be forums full of holograms debating the finer points of everything.

How can I be sure y'all aren't holograms?

Uh... Smell my arm pit??

several rappers have more musical talent than anyone on this board. Fact.

That is true, for sure. But for me, rap is terrible music. The reason the music industry pushed is because it is one of the easiest genres to produce and made/makes more money than real music in relation to time and energy put into the end results. That too is fact.

Another fact is that if I had that much talent, there is no way I would stoop to producing such garbage just because it made me lots of money. My self-respect is worth much more. Regards, Steadfastly

Actually, it was because people started seeing through their scheme of generating pop hits through Swedish songwriters + random girls picked up from the mall.

Plus, historically, rap music has been very very weak in terms of album sales despite their supposed "low production costs." Even then, the legal costs or royalties required for clearing a sample for use may equal or offset the costs of recording live instruments. [non-rap example: Verve / Bittersweet Symphony]

In the end, if the music is crap, it's crap, regardless of what genre it is. You show me a Soulja Boy, I'll show you a Nickelback. Fair enough?

Which part? I'd be happy to elaborate.

We're not talking about music. We're talking about rap. Where people rhyme made up words over top of someone else's music. You know... like for shizzle my nizzle. What is a nizzle anyway?

dude- go be a maga zord somewhere else

It wasn't a hologram. It was 18th century tech that was tarted up with the use of computers. If you look at tupac from an angle you can see the distortion. Basically they projected a computer generated image onto a mylar sheet. The computer generated part was cool. The other bit has been done before tons of times.

The geek in me thought it was frickin' cool. I do wonder what this sort of thing (eventually) will do for creativity, though. As people have said, I'm sure we're a year and a half from being able to go see a hologram concert of The Doors. And Rihanna will be able to do a virtual concert in every city simultaneously on the same night, without even having to go on tour.

So in other words you have no evidence to support your so called fact? I didn't think so. A lot of talk is what I would expect from a rap fan. I enjoyed rap when it was original and had something to offer. I came up in the 80's and 90's when there was some real talent to be had. And I am sure there is 1 talented rap artist adrift in the endless sea of garbage there is to be had now... he or she is just not worth the effort of listening to all the crap you have to sift through to find them. You cannot deny that the majority... not all... but the majority of rap out there now is some idiot talking about his gold toofs, bitches, and 22 inch rims, as they is hittin da club. It contributes to people's stupidity.

I would still be willing to look over your proof of this "fact" you claim to know when you gather it up though.

Timing, lyrical genius, phenomenal musicianship, sense of pitch, and knowing how to do a cool show.

Like I said, better musician than anyone on the boards.

Wow... that was just awful. I did hear some music but the guy with the mic was jibber jabbering over top of it. But I can acknowledge the talent of whoever composed the music over which he was barfing his nonsense. To your points, he broke timing at least three times in his set. I could probably find more. Lyrical Genius... I'll have to take your word for it. I only understood "Imaginary Places" and the rest was dibba dooba zippa zappa pippa blam blam something or other. Sense of pitch... have your ears checked. He was extremely pitchy and not a singer by any stretch of the imagination. Cool show... I would have walked out even if it was free. The guy running the equipment seemed well practiced and rehearsed. Other than that... didn't see a lot of musical talent there. Just some guy talking fast. Now he could probably get some commercial gigs... like at the end of car commercials where the fast talking guy tells you all the legal stuff. But that's not musical talent... that's just talking fast. His words may be poetic... don't know... couldn't understand them. But that's still more poetry than singing isn't it. Talking over someone else's music, Like I said earlier. But art is very subjective. I do not consider rap music. I do not consider 90% to be art (I think they get away with horrible speech most of the time by labeling it "Art"). But whatever floats your boat... it's obviously sold as music to people who don't know the difference.

Like I said, better musician than anyone on the boards.

I really didn't think you'd try something that stupid. You still have not identified that you can count, measure, or otherwise identify the extent of the musical talent of everyone on this board. For all you know I could be that guy in the video. For all you know any one member of this board could be the greatest musical genius currently living on this planet. The fact is... you simply do not know what your talking about. Ergo... you're full of crap. The video you posted proves only that you enjoy garbage. Nothing more. Strike Two!

I think its gruesome and ultimately disrespectful to the dead artist. Its not them its a tape with some kind of high tech puppet. Are we so devoid of decent artist we have to virtually grave rob to get entertainment?

So you don't watch any TV programs with people who have died in them?...or look at images, statues, or even read say Shakespeare??
