a little update....

chamfering(beveling) the slots prior to fretting... just one or two drags of the file does it...

dcam5077.jpg

fretting has begun. use the fret cutters to cut the fret wire...

dcam5078.jpg

i use a fret hammer to seat the fret wire...

dcam5079.jpg

and then some fret pullers to remove the fret, add superglue and press back in place.

dcam5080.jpg

board is prepared for glue and the press...

dcam5081.jpg

i use gel superglue, much cleaner and less runs.... ;)

dcam5082.jpg

next post, i finish the fretting process... :thu:

I usually don't bother with the glue on a new board. They don't need it. It's a nice precaution though. I'm just saying... it's a step that can be missed.

i just had a couple of frets that kept wanting to pop up on the first board i did, so i have just decided it's best to just glue them right from the start.

just three tiny drop s though, nothing major :thu:

here is the three drops of gel superglue...

dcam5086.jpg

tapped back in with the hammer and then pressed...

dcam5087.jpg

quickly wipe the glue off the fretboard before it dries...

dcam5088.jpg

once they are all glued, reset and pressed, it's time to trim the edges.

dcam5089.jpg

finished :D

Man killer thread. As if building the guitar isn't enough, you have to pose while your photographer snaps pics.

Keep going...it's inspiring.
:cool::thu::cool::thu::cool:

I like how the the grain pattern changes where the switch indicator will be.

thanks and ha, ha on the posing :poke:

in my other build thread i was just concerned about building. in this thread i want to document things more thoroughly with hopes it inspires someone else to build :thu:

the grain changes right around the switch are cool

so...you make adding frets look easy...when the time comes to refret mine I almost feel like I could do it myself...almost...how difficult is it? I bet crowning and polishing them ain`t that easy? I have none of the tools required nor the space actually here in Japan but once I get back home for good I sure would like to try working on mine some. Can`t wait to see this one finished.
