Members slambang
Tama is a great innovator when it comes to hardware. Some of their designs are pure genius.
Members stapes2260
i think all the top end stuff is pretty comparable. I like yamaha hardware, they build it in the same factory as the motorcyles. It's tough as nails. Expensive though. I like dw pedals, but i'm not crazy about any of their other hardware. Tama's hardware is good too, but also expensive. I think the key is to get the top of the line stuff of whatever company you settle on, you may invest a bit more initially, but it'll save you money in the long run. Members societystease
I personally prefer DW hardware, but I agree that at the top they are all pretty comprable.
Members Sam Kessler
I perfer Tama. they make awesome pedals, and their clamps are very sweet as well...almost as adjustable as my pedal. lol. I just got an iron cobra jr. double. Their stands are very good, as well, however, most cymbal stands seem about the same to me.
Members Scheming Demon
I recall the drums of the 60's and 70's. Hardware was like pencil sticks. You blew in it's general direction and it would sway. Then at some point (don't remember exactly) in the 70's Tama changed all that. They were the innovators of sturdy, heavy duty hardware that everyone else has since copied. Who's the best now, haven't got the faintest but I would imagine all the major makers are very good and fairly comparable to each other.
Members DrumminBtama
I would have to say Tama makes some of the best hardware. I use to sue DW pedals and was vey into them. When the new Iron cobras came out, I tried a double pedal and bought one the next day. I havent been happier wiht any other pedals since. Other than pedal they also make great cymbal and tom stands. Other companies top of the line products aren't bad though. I prefer Tama over everything tho. Well, I love pearl rack systems though.
Members woody431
I also like Tama hardware, Yamaha has nice hardware also, Gibraltar 9500 series, and Lugwig's Modular hardware is nice..
Members wally_groove
Anything with the name tama on it is going to be rock solid, i can assure you of that. I have a friend with some hardware thats stronger than ever, and he's had it since the 80's.
Members seizeman
By the way...........-Are there any opinions on giant step pedals?? middle/triple/dualist/double???
Members swlabr
Hardware... Man I can live with my soundpercussion stuff, Less expensive and holds up my kit very nicely. I would however like one of those gibraltar stands that can double as both a boom and a straight stand. as far as double bass drum pedals the axis long boards are nice because they don't bounce in quite the same way as other pedals and have a longer pedal.
