Members Chabo Posted August 27, 2002 Members Posted August 27, 2002 Wouldn't the black coloring have some kind of effect on the sound?

I think ebony heads sound just a little different... maybe somewhere between a clean and coated head, leaning a little closer tonally to a clear one. I've used 'em a couple times and they sounded fine. I remember having an ebony Powerstroke on my kick and really liking the sound. I agree with everyone else- the Emperors are a little more resonant and not as "wet" sounding. They're probably more versitaile...
Members Living Dead Drummer Posted August 28, 2002 Members Posted August 28, 2002 I have used both Pinstripe and Ebony Pinstripe. There IS a differance! The ebony is a little thicker, and has a slightly darked wetter tone. I would go for them, they sound nice and dont wear vary fast.of course Thats just my opinon, I swited to Evens
