If Taylor Swift and John Mayer made a porno, I'd watch it. I think he has a nice bum.

:thu:

Please dont think I keep up with this stuff, i just read Fark.com religiously, apparently Taylor wrote a song about him saying he shouldn't have f'ed her while she was 19 she was too young. Go with that where you want. :cop: Frankly, Taylor got a hit song out of it and shouldn;t have spread her legs so fast if she has to write a song about it.

Tough to think Taylor Swift is anything but a stupid brat for hooking up with a notorious player and then getting hurt because, OH NOES, he's a player. She got a song out of it, he got to bang her, seems like veryone got something out of the deal, move along now ... :cop:

And sorry, Taylor, you were old enough to legally make that decision, you're old enough to own the consequences. :idk:

Fairfield, CT can break a weak man, but Mayer made it out of there. He could have given up and fallen into the Fairfield thug life, but he didn't. He stayed strong. He stayed strong and he channelled his pain and honed his craft into the emotionally devastating sound that it is today. John Mayer has set a new standard for blues and songsmiths that the rest of us can only aspire to.

Good for you, John. Good for you.

 Have you ever heard Billy Gibbons talk about his gear? Whether it's a guitar or a pedal or a pick, he seems to do the same thing thing. So does EVH. When Music Man was making 'em they were the best, but then Peavey makes 'em and they're the best and now Fender makes 'em and guess what - they're the best! And it's not just these guys, they were just the first ones that came to mind.
Geez, I thought other musicians quit paying any attention to this kind of BS once they got out of middel school

I thought the video was really good. Egotistical? Yeah, a bit. But if someone asks me to explain my #1 guitar, how it came to be, and why it's my #1, it would come off the same way.

And yeah, for JM fans, those songs are well known. If you're talking about your guitar and you say you recorded these songs with it, then it makes perfect sense. And while on topic - think if you met Jimmy Page in the 70s, and he was holding his double neck Gibson. OMG, Jimmy Page! OMG - is that the Stairway guitar?!! Can I touch it?!! Yeah - its like that. The black Strat people see him playing all the time and associate with him. They also credit the guitar for the tone as much as the player.

I think it's a cool story. And wow, he instantly nails those tones on his album. It's a signature sound - its subtle, but it's there. When he was on the wrong pickup, it didn't sound like the record. Flips the 5 way and BAM.

He also nicely explains how playing one guitar for so much time you really get to feel all the nuances that all you to bend like you want to, etc. I know what he means - I can play great on my main axe, but struggle on another one - especially if it's a different string tension or radius or scale length. He admits to not being so great he can just pick up any guitar and play like he does.

yeah cause record companies never pay for that stuff

Nice try, but I interviewed John Scofield for that record. He even said, "John Mayer's the real deal." Sco's been around long enough and has enough of a reputation that he's not going to stick his neck out for John Mayer if he didn't deserve it.

Of course you're welcome to think it's all a conspiracy by kitten-eating alien reptiles from outer space who are controlling our minds.

OT: I went to Ray Hennig's store when I was in Austin. It was full of crappy beginner guitars. On the other hand, Austin Vintage Guitars, in the same plaza, was the best guitar store I was ever in.

Austin Vintage Guitars is my favorite guitar store ever. :thu:

I think many people miss the sarcasm with him. He's a funny guy and I don't think he takes himself as seriously as many think he does. I think much of the stuff like sticking the guitar in the freezer and getting the finish stripped off is just him goofing around. Probably his way of trolling all of the internet bedroom playing haters.

I agree. I can't call it up at work, but there are some videos of him on Youtube essentially trolling his fans before a show, as well as a hilarious satirical video called "How A Song Is Made", both in which he makes fun of himself quite a bit. He clearly has a good sense of humor and doesn't take himself totally seriously. I really think he does a lot of these things to {censored} with people. And I'm certainly laughing. I'm sure he does have some douchebag tendencies, but meh, either way, it doesn't affect the music.

Not the video you're talking about but more proof.

I am admittedly very anti-John Mayer; his attitude, the way he carries himself, how he comes off in interviews, etc. just do not agree with me at all.

That being said, if he wants a pre-reliced guitar, then who cares. Some people honestly just like the way beat up guitars look for cosmetic reasons. I'm only in my early 20s but I love older guitars. No one is going to believe an electric guitar from the 60s has natural wear and tear from a younger guy like me, but I don't mind it in the slightest.
