Members Boodashiggy
I got a Pacific CX with a Pacific double pedal, the Sabian B8 Performacne Pack with the crash, ride and hi-hats. The tom sizes are 10', 12', and 14'. Bass is 18 X 22. I also got 5 pairs of Portnoy's signature sticks with a sampler of his instructional vid and an audio disc as well, for 20 bucks. All in all, for everything it cost me 930 bucks brand new. What does everyone think of Pacific sets? Are they comparable with Rockstar and Export and all the other mid-range kits? They told me at Guitar Center that their definitely comparable and are good sounding drums if tuned right. Also, now that I've gotten a set can anyone give me helpful websites, good techniques, help with the double pedal, ANYTHING at all to help a beginning drummer get better, faster. Thanks. Members braindonor35
I've heard the maple pacifics are awesome, so i'm sure your's is as well. I wouldn't worry about double bass untill I could play with a single pedal first, and take lessons!
Members wombar
Try these sites. http://www.interactivemusicschool.com/ http://drumbum.com/lessons/ http://www.vicfirth.com/education/studcenterdrumset.html http://www.drums.com/lessons/index.cfm There's some good stuff here for beginners and advanced people alike. Any advanced people could have a look at the linear phrasing stuff on the first url (in the advanced lessons). Some advice that I would give you is:- a) Dont limit yourself to one style. I knew one guy in school who was a really good fast punk drummer, but that was it. When we jammed to like metallica or anything not punky, he sounded awful coz all he knew was punk. b) TAKE LESSONS. This is really important to get your technique right. I'm not saying its impossible without lessons, just a hell of a lot easier. c) When your're watching TV sit down with your practice pad(you do have a practice pad dont you? ) or a pillow on your lap and tap away. Essentially its free practice coz you aren't sat there bored. Just dont do it with other people in the room coz you might find your sticks lodged in a place where the sun dont shine(no I dont mean under the sofa) Anyway, hope this helps and let us know how you get on. Members Liverneck
I've played rockstars and exports, and pacifics are right there along with them. With a good snare & cymbles that set does a good job.
