Members Kines
What colors did the 2004 50th anniversary Deluxe Stratocaster come in? I'm just wondering because I bought one that is suppose to be the 50th Deluxe but it's Inca (or chrome?) silver and I'm thinking these only came in the 3 color burst thing. Any ideas? Argh, I hate learning this stuff so late!
Members Wyatt
These are all i know of... http://namm.harmony-central.com/WNAMM04/Content/Fender/PR/50th-Anniversary-Strats.html And... http://namm.harmony-central.com/SNAMM04/Content/Fender/PR/50th-Golden-Strat.html I remember in 1994, they put a 40th Anniversary badge on *all* Starts of that year (Japanese included), I do not know if there were other 50th Anniversary things in 2004. Members Kines
It's supposed to be a 2004 American Deluxe. Thanks! I finally found a link on the Fender site and apparently it did come in chrome silver with the black shell pickguard which is what this one has. http://www.fender.com/products/show.php?partno=0101200 Also see here:http://www.stratcollector.com/corner/archives/000244.html I'm going to be researching this a bit more though so any more information is appreciated. Well, those links show it would be a 2004 American Deluxe, but they don't imply anything about it being the 50th Anniversary model. The 50th Anniversary model would the 50th Anniversary neck Plate and the "commemorative logo" on the pickguard itself. Note the PG.
Members Kines
Ah! I now I understand. OK, so what I have is the standard 2004 deluxe but they also had the 50th anniversary version. For some reason I was thinking they were all 50th anniversary editions. This is fine by me though because I don't like the color burst anyway and I want something to play, not something to collect.

Well, they ship out so many Anniversary models that they don't exactly shoot up in value anyway. And, it's always some sort of anniversary at Fender. At best the 50th model is just something to appeal to fans of that look.
Members GAS Man
I think IIRC they were all two-tone SB like my 50th Anniversary Deluxe in this photo. They had 3 versions. an American Std model, the Deluxe and a much more expensive ($3k or so) vintage spec'd model, i.e. to '54 strat specs. Members Kines
Thanks for all the info! Just curious, anyone know what a 2004 American Deluxe (non-anniversary) is worth these days? I'm embarrassed to say how much I paid (plus I guess it's rude). Members GAS Man
I'd check around ebay. But if I was allowed to guess I'd say around 70% of new cost or so, so approx $850 if in relatively good condition. Maybe 75% or $900.
Members Karma1
A friend of mine has a 50th Anniversary Strat (US) and I don't know the official name for the color, but it's kind of teal, or blue green, with white pearl pickguard, and maple fingerboard. It's one of the nicest looking Strat's I've ever seen.

Everything built simply had the 50th anniversary logo placed on the headstock. Just like every Fender built in 2006 had the silver diamond logo on the headstock. In 1996 Fender guitars turned 50 In 2004 the strat model turned 50 You may have not known it, but you aren't comparing apples to apples Here's my '04 50th Anny Golden Strat

Members Kines
I like those gold ones! Gold plated hardware worries me though. I would be afraid it would rub off after a while, especially with heavy use. But I don't know because I have never had a guitar with gold hardware. Members 6down1togo
The 50th Anniversary Models came with a special commemorative edition neck plate in addition to the plaque on the back of the headstock. If it doesn't have the commemorative neckplate, it's just a Strat made in 2007. All the 2007's had the headstock plaque. My 50th Deluxe is two-color sunburst with a mint guard. I also have a 50th Anniversary 57 Reissue with the 1957-2007 Commemoratve neck plate. It is Mary Kay white with gold hardware and has a single ply, 8 screw guard and truss adjustment at the neck heel
