Members iplayloudly
do you like it? Lately I've come to the conclusion that mine SUCKS. I've tried different heads and different ways of tuning it but I can't get a very good sound out of it.
Members Sir Enrico Buttcock
I like mine. It came with the kit I bought a few years ago before they started making the Stage Custom Advantage and Standard kits separately. Dunno if they've changed the woods or something. At first I was very un-satisfied with it so I took it to my former drum teacher and we tuned it together(Remo ambassador snare side head and a CS batter head) and it sounded great afterwards; it was like a different drum(kinda like comparing a Pearl Forum series wood snare to a DW one). Once I learned how to tune it properly, it's been working great. On a few occasions I've played in the house band of this jazz club and there have been some older jazz drummers sitting in and some of them said they really liked the snare...and these guys are used to playing Maple Customs!!! I could later post a song I demoed with my band so you can hear what the Stage Custom wood snare sounds like in action when it's tuned properly. Members Newman
I hated the snare that came with my stage custom. The bass drum and toms sound great, but the snare was just worthless to me. I love the sound of maple and birch when it comes to wood snares. but as far as basswood and mahogany snares, I just dont care for them.
