Moderators Ratae Corieltauvorum Posted October 1, 2013 Moderators Share Posted October 1, 2013 If you measure it you may find there is a drop in pre-slotted Tusq replacement Measurements:WidthThicknessHeighString spacing Once you get the new nut if your old action at the first fret was right you simply match the relative groove to base of nut measurememnt and you're good to go. PRS SE nuts in general are cut too deep, and apart from the pickups ar eteh weakest part of what in general is a good package
Members brandass
Ratae covered it well.I've replaced two SE nuts (terrible) with the Gibson style Tusq nut sold by All Parts. The replacements are too tall, had to take them down quite a bit, but they work great. The only problem is that they are quite a bit narrower (front to back) than the original nuts, such that there's a noticeable gap between the new nut (crushed up against the fretboard) and the truss rod cover. I'm not that picky about it, but I'm sure others would find it apalling.Edit: Ratae referred to the nut dimension that is smaller in the replacements as "thickness".
