Does this mean do not remove label under penalty of law, or do not remove CE label, or dispose of Strat properly? I don't get it Esplain

Members lintuxvi
The majority of electronics produced today have a more than trace amount of lead and mercury (among other double-plus ungood chemicals) which could harm the environment, not to mention the ground water running under the landfill over there, leaching into that glass of water on your desk. Members walfordr
It means that in Europe you can't throw it in the trash. Directive 2002/96/EC deals with the disposal of Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (incluing musical instruments).

Called (appropriately enough) the WEEE regulations.
Members Futch
Yeah. We have learnt about that on our degree course (3D Design for sustianability). The regulations are designed to make manufacturers responsible for their products at the end of their life cycle.

Members liko
It basically means don't just chuck the whole thing in the trash.Virtually all guitars now have PCBs (printed circuit boards) in them, even if they're just the foundations for switches or pots. PCBs are typically manufactured using an epoxy-cloth composite, and if this material is burned the epoxy creates some nasty toxic fumes. In addition, some but not all instruments have batteries, electrolytic capacitors, and other things that will leak caustic and toxic chemicals into a landfill, and this is to be discouraged, as the seals underneath the landfill simply can't be 100% leakproof forever.Since the manufacturer, and even the environmental agencies that require these stickers, can't know exactly how your trash will be disposed of when it goes in the trash can, they are very liberal with this warning. Members Chordite
They are very fussy about warnings on eveything here in the UK, there will probably be another one somewhere on it saying:-Do not eat this guitar, If accidentally swallowed seek medical advice immediatelyDo not induce vomiting
