i love the look and idea of the thinline, but i just cant stand the pickguard.

it looks extremely ugly! IMO

The kisekae renderer shows 2x the number of screws the real version will have. That takes away a large part of the visual appeal, IMO.

Here's a picture of a Warmoth Thinline PG:

This is a great thread :D

Look forward to seeing the HCEG combined group effort Tele finished .

Dunno if this is of any interest for ya, but I just had my LP studio French polished, (keeping with the violin theme)
I can tell ya the neck is to die for to play on, slippery as greased duck poo!

Cool! You do it yourself? :)

Another finish idea inspired by AJC's stunning archtop:

wp,

Cool project, man. I'm diggin the neck, and your latest idea for the finish (violin burst ?) would be perfect. Maybe if you mix just a hint of red in there...

Also, I don't know if you bought the grover mini tuners yet, but I'd really advise against it. Guitar center once sent me a set by accident and they were really, really small. They look and feel like awful migdetry was at hand in the factory. Anything normal size will look 10 times better.

I have 'em and loved them on a prior project. I think they'll work great, especially since the locking mechanism works so well.

If I find I'm not totally satisfied, I'll swap them out for some Wilkinson EZ-Loks.

hey! that looks like a bridge

'tis, and a Callaham one at that.

It's also:

1. electrosocket +cryo jack

2. stainless neck plate

3. stainless round string tree

4. stainless neck srews

5. stainless PG screws

6. stainless string ferrules

...now if I just had a body...

I have only heard good things about them, I just wonder if they are worth 3x's what the Wilkinson sells for...

The machining is exceptional on this one, and I've heard semi-mixed reviews on the Wilki. I suppose it boils down to how much you want to spend.

The differences (from my view)

1. Callaham thicker base plate, no bow- win Callaham

2. Callaham machined brass saddles, Wilkii is (I believe) cast- win Callaham

3. Callaham is trimmed near the bridge PU to allow fingerpicking- win Callaham

4. Wilki can be used for string-through or top-loader- winish Wilki

5. Wilki is $69 cheaper- BIG WIN Wilki

I figured it didn'y make any sense for me to spend $1k+ on an instrument and cheap out on the bridge, and I've had very good experiences with Callaham hardware, so I went with the known quality entity.
