What to look for in a hihat-stand ?

If I was you I'd make sure that you can move the footplate itself, unfortunately I've got one which doesn't move.

Consequently I've had to put the second pedal of my double bass pedal through one of the legs of my hi hat stand and there's not as much room as I'd like.

Obviously make sure that it's easy to adjust and what not but thats about it I would think.

sit down and play on a few at the music store. then adjust EVERYTHING. see what it can and cannot do. also make sure the action of the hats open and close with little effort.

single or double bracket shouldn't matter too much, unless you like to play very hard.

Here's a tip- buy from a major company. Either Pearl, Tama, DW, Yamaha, Axis, or a few other selected companies. I recommend Tama myself, but that's just personal preference.

Whatever company you buy from, get one of the higher-end stands.
