Members Mofishes
Here's something that P. Sound posted in a thread that I started a while back. I think it's worth looking at. **************************************************** First, let me (P.Sound) thank all of you for the nice words. I'll try to explain why I respond the way I do, FWIW. I've been involved in sound and electronics since the age of 7, and am now going on 48, maybe 49? I have to look anymore. I'm getting older by the minute, gray and losing my hair, although not as fast as I otherwise would have thought? The reality is, I don't play as well as I once use to for some medical reasons. So I get my enjoyment by using my talents in what I consider well placed areas, the same is true for my drumming. I still enjoy it and my mind can
Members Liverneck
Word. originally posted by P.Sound and then by MofishesI learned very quick that all you think you know can prove to be a humbling experience. I especially found this with the Latin styles like samba and salsa. There is always someone better and if you don't have that attitude... your sunk! IMHO, unless a musician is willing to step back and open themselves up to other styles and criticism, they won't optimize their full potential. Some folk think they are a specific kind of drummer, but the cross over amoungst the styles is amazing. I think competition among drummers can be thick (and good to a degree), but don't ever be an asshole or put someone down to try to stroke yourself... you meet the same people on the way back down that you met on the way up! Where was I going with this?...Glad to hear P.Sound is sharing his knowledge. I've been in the scene for a long while (not as long as P. Sound), but know there are lots of bull{censored}ters, prima donnas, wanna bees, cry babies and people only in it for the $. Nice to know people like P. Sound are for real. Willing to help, share his knowledge & experience and only wanting a pat on the back.We need more of you!

Members woody431
Good post. Reguarding the kit, I'm not so sure that Pearl has Bubinga available. I know they have Birch and Mahogany, but not sure about Bubinga. As for cost, well you'll be looking at spending a pretty penny, as Bubinga or African Mahogany is not cheap by any means. As much as I hate to say it, try e-mailing Orange County Drums, I'm sure they can build it and it might be the same price [range] as a Masterworks kit. Try finding some other Exotic drum companies as well..such as: www.exoticdrums.com Patrick is a great guy, e-mail him and ask about a kit, with those sizes and specs. Try posting on www.drummaker.com/talk and see if anyone there knows of someone that will build..
