Members Narrenlogik
hi, I need a little help. My drummer wants to buy a new kit and is willing to pay about 2300 for it. (including hardware, cymbals etc.) What are your suggestions? We're playing faster metal type stuff.

Members e-b-e
I'd say your drummer should get kit he likes the most that he can afford.

Members Chabo
No problem, just I haven't seen that symbol before. So he already has a kit, and just wants to upgrade? If so, then I recommend a Tama Starclassic Performer. It's made out of birch, it's cheaper than most maple kits, and I really like Tama's hardware. It's top-notch stuff. This is a professional-level kit, and he can get a 5-piece for around $1500, then he can buy cymbals/extra drums/extra hardware with the spare cash. Members woody431
Since you are somewhere overseas, maybe a Premier? They're made over in Europe, so the replacement parts wouldn't be that hard to get, they are really a good bang for the buck. Premier Artist Maple or Birch is what you'd probably want. As for hardware, Tama is nice, as is Pearl. Cymbals, well, Sabian, Zildjian, and Paiste are the three "big" Co.'s. There is also Istanbul, Bosphorus, Meinl, etc. I can't really recommend cymbals as it is really personal.
Members NewfieDrummer
Also check out Taye Drums (I had to suggest it). They are the best bang for your buck when it comes to drums. Probably check out a set of StudioMaple or TourPro. The set I play sounds good and I play the cheap set. For cymbals, check out Sabian, Zildjian or Paiste like mentioned earlier. I play Sabian (check out the AA's in Sabian) they are a good cymbal and not too expensive. If you're having trouble getting to a music store, you can always listen to sounds clips of cymbals on both the Sabian ( www.sabian.com ) and Zildjian ( www.zildjian.com ) websites. I'm not sure about Paiste because I haven't really looked into those, but I'm sure their website has sound clips too. Also, check out birch kits if you're into the metal stuff. If you can get to a music store, try some kits out. If you're gonna drop a bunch of dough into something you always gotta try it out first. Buy what you think sounds good. And, it might be a good idea to have a couple people from your band there too to listen and get opinions from them. Happy hunting, ND
