i dont mean to stereotype but it seems like hardcore 80s metal fans tend to be close minded about other types of music, especially grunge and punk, and its like their sort of bitter that 80s metal went out of style.

I'm keyboard player (but not proff.) and

I was thinking about to learn electric guitar or drums.I like more drums.

What I'm afraid is maybe I'm already old to learn another instrument?(I'm 28).I know I won't be good as players which starts at age of 10 or something like that.

I always liked synth. music like depeche Mode or Prodigy, but as time goes and I'm older I'm starting to like rock. And of course want to play it.

Can you just tell me your opinion If drums are hard to learn (maybe less hard than guitar??)and of course If it's good idea to start so late??I know somebody can tell me that you can learn and play for yourself but I want more, maybe play in the band someday.

Thanks a lot and sorry for my English

I would consider drums definitely, if you ever intend to record any of your stuff, drums are a must, weather you program them or play them you still need to know how each piece of the kit interacts. Guitars are a dime a dozen;)

I'll answer your comments first. I am 31 years old, and grew up on 80's metal. My first drumming influences were Clive Burr, Nicko McBrain, Alex Van Halen, Lars Ulrich, Charlie Benante, Dave Lombardo, etc. and still love that music. I still love Judas Priest and will be seeing them when their tour hits Australia...... Scott Travis is {censored}in' awesome and loved his work with FIGHT as well as Priest... As far as the 'cheesy' comment goes, look at any Priest video, or crue video etc. and tell me it's not! Don't get pissed off, man. I love classic metal as much as you, probably more. You just can't take 80's metal too seriously, ok?

:D

These are bands like Warrant, etc. If you think the modern drummers today are not influenced by Tommy lee and Ozzy's crew of awesome drummers (tommy aldridge, carmine appice, mike bordin, randy castillo, lee kerslake and more) you are the dumbest drummer on the planet.

As for you, stapes, a little pubeless college boy like you needs to get off your soap box and get a sense of humour. All you do is slag off bands and drummers that you don't like BECAUSE YOU DON'T LIKE THEIR MUSIC. A 'dumbest drummer on the planet' is a close minded wanker like you that cannot appreciate that someone like Travis Barker is a great {censored}ing musician whose work has and will influence someone right now.

Don't try to patronise me either. I was playing in metal bands when you were in junior school listening to New kids on the block, so {censored} off. I am a metal drummer for life, but I can still appreciate all genres and drummers. You obviously can't.

First of all I appreciate ALL types of music, hence why I was defending "80s metal," did you see me bashing other types of music?.......no. Just because you're older than me doesn't make your point more valid, so don't try to feed me that BS. You made what sounded like an uninformed comment, and now you expect me to just assume you were joking? Give me a break, you brought it on yourself. Making comments with the intent to piss off people doesn't make you a comedian, it makes you a jackass.

dickhead:

You bash punk music and travis' i'd rather take lessons from a drunk one armed monkey' barker. and white stripes, etc.

Travis Barker could probably play better than you one armed and

smashed off his head. who the {censored} do you think you are?

rockdrumr's singer's plastic suit is gay. I wasn't joking about that.

I'm sure rockdrumr himself wouldn't wear a PVC suit...

I said priest and ozzy were cheesy. listen to some of the lyrics. you can't take that {censored} too seriously. Doesn't mean I don't like it,idiot.

what was uninformed about what I said, you moron? no-one besides rockdrumr's singer has any real reason to be pissed about my comments. I never implied 80's metal was {censored}, fool.

Just cheesy. I suggest you go through some of your past posts, and see what a {censored}head you really are.

If you can play drums half as good as you talk {censored}, then donati, chambers, weckl etc. had better look out.

Probably now you'll post ' I never said I was better than.. blah blah blah..... cos' that's your standard response. You would have to be the biggest backpedalling {censored} on this BB, so before you TRY to bignote yourself, THINK. Then you won't have to edit your posts 200 times. Stupid preppy fag.
