Members snaresmacker
i was glancing throught the ayotte website and noticed that i really liked the woodhoops they offer. but then i looked closer and it looks to me like they stick up really far above the head....like twice as far as a normal die cast hoop. are they really that bulky? do they get in the way? i was just wondering because i'm considering buying an ayotte set someday. thanks ss
Members joestanman
yep, they do stick out more... I dont know about 2x...and yes they could get in the way... but ideally you arent flailing around hitting rims as it is... I had an ayotte kit for a while, and it was great. Best sounding kit I have ever had... If you are a decent drummer, its just a matter of setting the drum at slightly a different angle, or adjusting your stroke. One thing though, I mounted my rack tom really flat and could get this fantastic tom rim shot, that would just glance of the drum. It was really cool, and i have only been able to get that sound with the ayotte kit. It was neat... Kinda like the splash cymbal for the tom world.... Members snaresmacker
one other question......are ayotte and taye the same company? is taye like a division of ayotte? (i heard this somewhere).. thanks
Members joestanman
apparently the original guy behind ayotte left to do taye. Thats the story im familiar with. So the same guy is building them, though not owned by the same company.
