There's way too many to list but I remember hearing Phil Collins' playing on "Trick of the Tail" and that probably most started me out appreciating drums. After that, Carl Palmer, Bill Bruford and many many others over the years. Nowadays, I really like Danny Carey with Tool and a handful of jazz session guys like Bill Stewart.

Cedric Sharpley (Gary Numan Band, Dramatis, Druid)

Roger Taylor (Duran Duran)

Though I wanted to drum when I was little, I didn't pursue. At age 18 (two years ago) I finally bought my drum kit. I wanted to mimic the setup Cedric had on tour. But right now I'll settle with a 6 piece kit. He used to tour with a 9 piece kit. I have 3 crashes and a china like he had, though at times he used 4 crashes. He didn't use a ride, so I never bought one. However, when I heard he used one on the Druid albums, I was like, hmmm I'll get a ride, and I did. Roger Taylor also did not use a ride; now he does. I also find that in a fill, I slightly speed up (or "rush" the beat) and setlle back down, and I believe I can hear that in Cedric's playing. I have tried to imitate him. Because I went through a phase where I only listened to Gary Numan, I was able to memorize pretty much note for note what Ced played, and tried to imitate it. Now whoever influenced him has indirectly influenced me.
