Members Coustfan'01 Posted January 14, 2007 Members Posted January 14, 2007 I recorded some songs with my band . They should be pretty good quality , and we're planning to make a demo with them , maybe sell them at shows , send it to radios , etc . Is there anything I should know beforehand , and is there any chance to get the songs"stolen" if they're not copyrighted ?

You own the copyright as soon as stuff is recorded, so they're in fact already copyrighted, even if you didn't pay 30$ to have them regestered (which since that is basically nothing, you should find out how to do). What is more problematic is making sure everyone in your group agrees about who owns how much of the copyright.
Members Coustfan'01 Posted January 14, 2007 Author Members Posted January 14, 2007 Thanks for the answers . Is it 30$ per song ? If so , that's still a bit of money... I'm a poor student And if we all agree for equal shares of the rights , do we still need to fill any form or something ?
Members danrothmusic Posted January 14, 2007 Members Posted January 14, 2007 it's $45 in the US (don't know about Canada), and you can put them into a group and register that for one price, rather than each individual song
