Members JSimms
I was auditioning a bass player and a guitar player last night and they wanted to do it at their house instead of our practice space and they said they had a set of drums so I wouldn't need to bring mine along. Anyway, it was an old Slingerland kit which in spite of having some really old heads on it sounded pretty damn good. Anway all they had in the way of cymbals was a pair of Wuhan hats a 20" Wuhan ride and about a 16" wuhan crash. I had never thought much about Wuhan cymbals before, but they actually sounded pretty damn good. Well, the hats and the crash were a bit tinny sounding, but I kind of liked the trashy sound that they had. The ride was another story, it was terrible. It literally sounded like I was playing a piece of sheet metal. Anyway, I was wondering if any of you guys have had any experience with Wuhan cymbals. Members Dark Slide
Just the chinas, which kick supreme ass. Though a friend of mine has a 16" fast crash and I love the sound of it on stage when they're playing.
Members DRuM
19" wuhan china here. Had it for years, small crack in it, still sounds great.
Members JSimms
Yeah, I had at least seen and heard of the Wuhan chinas, but I had never heard any of their other cymbals before. They don't appear to be too popular.
Members moyerbros
This is surprising to me that you found the Wuhan Ride to be the worst part of the set. Usually, the rides from Wuhan get the best reviews. My experience has been that the Wuhan rides provide a good ping with little wash. Perhaps your personal taste is to have a thin ride sound with alot of wash, I don't know. The Wuhan Traditional series are a terrific buy for those on a budget. They are handmade with lathed finish. I've found the hi hats to be a bright sound with a nice definition. The crash, for my tastes, is a little heavier than I like, but I like a thin crash with a fast decay. When you consider that you can get a performance pack for around $200, these cymbals are great. Wuhan cymbals do have a slight "trashy" sound, kind of like the china cymbals. It's inherent in the alloy. AND Wuhans have lifetime warranties

Yeah, it did have a good ping sound with very little wash, which is what I like, but it also had a poor tone I felt. I guess my point is that I liked this set of Wuhans a lot better than any other "entry" level set of cymbals I had ver heard. If I were going to buy a cheap set of cymbals, these would be it.
