Members SublimeOi
I have this ride cymbal that is made by Zildjian that is unmarked... it has no name and it is One Of A Kind...but it has the indent on the cymbal that says zildjian.... the cymbal is 21 inches. It was hand hammered and the hammer made indents of stars instead of circles... and it has an extra large bell, similar to the Zildjian Z Custom Mega Bell ride. I just wanted to know if anybody would know anything about how much it is worth or anything like that, or if anybody is interested i might be selling it. Members Fafnir777
Let me ask you a question: Why do you keep saying this cymbal is "one of a kind"? That is a Zildjian Z that was mass produced in the mid 1980's. There were 4 different types of hammering marks available, and one of them were stars. We used to have a drumshop here in Jacksonville that had an entire cymbal rack full of them. If it's in really good shape, it's probably worth $125 or so. Tim

Bought it for 90 bucks at a local shop. They're still pretty common though, so i doubt its one of a kind.

Members humble_pie
Yeah, these were made in response to the Paiste Rude series. It was all about trying to get that unshaved hand-hammered sound that would redefine the future of drumming. Currently residing in the "where are they now" file..... Actually, they're residing in the 'what have we become' file. The line developed directly into the current Z Custom line of today. The first shot back at Paiste's RUDE line was the Zildjian Impulse line, which had the whole unlathed hammering thing going, plus the cymbals had a very dark color to them, like Paiste's. The Z lines have always been either brilliant or 'normal' Zildjian colored.

They were funky looking.I had a friend who had a 20" Impulse "Earth" Ride..... it was nasty looking, a sort of mud-colored marble type of finish, but it sounded great. I actually still have a 16" impulse crash and use it quite a bit. It's a little 'trashy' sounding, but I like it. Mine used to look a little 'rainbow'-ey in the right light...the bottom of it still does a little. I think it had to do with the fact that they were completely smooth (unlathed) and some kind of lacquer coating on 'em. Mine's pretty ugly looking these days, but then again, I'm no model myself so we get along fine. I think Tim Alexander used an impulse ride for years (maybe he still does). Not a bad line of cymbals at all...Paiste's Rude line did pretty well, and these weren't too different. They just never caught on like the Rudes did (Stewart Copeland had a lot to do with the Rude's success).

Members ShishKaboom!
Friendly word of advice SublimeOi,sit down and think about what you're going to post before you actually hit the submit button, that way you won't have to double post virtually every time,it's frightfully annoying.
