Im thinking of getting a pair of Zildjian K/Z Dynobeats, but im not too sure whether to get it in 14" or 13", can anyone tell me whats the difference between two of them?

Will the hats match my sabian cymbals sonically?

ANyone has a dynobeats using sabian crashes and ride?

Right now I have 14" AAXCellerator, should I change that to dynobeats or just keep it?

thanks

The 13s will be a little higher in pitch and have a brighter, tighter chick. I would go with the 13s - nothing like a tight chick. :D

Will they sound good with your Sabians is really up to your ears.

And should you replace your AAXs is also up to you.

Hell yeah. I have Sabian hats and splash and Zildjain crashes and ride. Brand doesn't matter to me, how it sounds does and there are great sounding cymbals from all makers. I think if you have a general idea of the sound you want and hear in your head, just go hit every cymbal you're looking at (whether it be hats, or crashes, or splashes) and pick the one that stands out to you. Unless you're tastes change often and significantly, I think you'll tend to migrate toward cymbals that sound good together, regardless of brand. My crashes, while both Zildjain, one is a Z and one is a K. They are definitlely in a different realm, but overall they seem to work pretty well together. However, I'll probably end up replacing the Z down the road as that's my oldest cymbal and my tastes have migrated away from the Z sound slighly and more towards the K's. I really dig the Sabian HHX stuff too. Personally, I think hats are their own beast in a way and with the way they're used in drumming, I don't think it's as essential to worry about them "matching" the rest of your cymbals.

I totally agree with Ulank. I'm not really sure what "matching" cymbals really mean anyway. Does that mean having them sound alike, like all K's or A's. To me, that would sound boring. I like a lot of diversitey in my sound. I have cymbals from the 3 major manufacturers and use them accordingly to what type of gig I'm playing, but even if I'm playing all jazz, I like to mix an A or Z with K's,etc. I know some drummers that have to have all the same type of cymbals for some anal reason besides sound. That's fine if your endorsed, but I bet even most endorsees, having a choice, would pick different cymbals from different companies, especially studio cats.

I have a mixture of brands but i will upgrage my hi-hat's, crash and slash. Here's what i have

Zildjian 20" A Custom Ping Ride

Zildjian 17" A Custom Cash

Sabian 16' Pro Crash

Sabian 12" B8 Pro china splash

Sabian 14" AAX fast hats

I want to replace the 3 sabian cymbals with zildjians they don't have to be the same model but I like them to be all Zildjians. I wish I could afford some Paiste Signature cymbals or i would get a 3rd crash with Paiste.

I mix as well, too. Even though a lot of drummers stick to certain brands, the cymbals are all about the sound, and it really shouldn't matter which brand as long as you like the sound.

Thanks

I own a pair of k/z 13" the sound really great...u can use the both ways...when u use it wif the the Z on top its has that really bright sound...very good accents...when the K is on top it produces a darker sound but it wun as dark a normal k hats...great for rock situations

i think mixing is fine really...so long as they sound great

That what Carter Beauford did on his Under the table and drumming video. He put the Z ontop and the K on bottom. You are right about it being bright it has a really nice tight, bright sound to it.
