Performance Royalties for a Song

I am in an orchestra pit for an upcoming musical production. Clearances for this production are already taken care of.

If, prior to the start of the show, the pit were to perform a copyrighted song, what would it cost and who would I contact to get clearance?

Some particulars: There would be 9 public performances with up to about 120 people in each audience. A song example might be St. Thomas.

Thanks for any information anyone can provide. :D

Ask whoever pays the liscensing fees for the orchestra or venue. I would recommend checking with the venue's director.

I'll check, but I don't think that will work. The shows come from one of a number of houses that specialize in that sort of thing. It's a package deal that includes the scripts and all necessary music as well as license for the number of performances planned.

I suspect I'll need to contact someone at BMI or ASCAP.
