Members zarazabas Posted July 21, 2005 Members Posted July 21, 2005 i have decided to buy an electronic kit simply because i don't get to practice as much as i would like to with an acoustic kit (cranky house mate). I have a budget of about AU$1500 (approx US$1125). What quality kit could i get for this? What do you guys recommend? Should i save up more? Thanks in advance for your always valuable advise.
Members MightyBricklayer Posted July 22, 2005 Members Posted July 22, 2005 buy a yamaha DTXpress III, save for a few months, and buy a Roland mesh snare for it. voila.

Can't argue with that, good advice on the mesh head snare. The rubber pads can become uncompromising after a while, a mesh snare makes all the difference on these kits.

Members happyshark Posted July 23, 2005 Members Posted July 23, 2005 I got a drumkat 3.0 on ebay for $150. Works great.

I like that pad, but I got an octapad for cheaper (plus it has 8 triugger inputs, though maybe the hat setup isn't as good). I'm saving up for some mesh head pads to go with it. Keep in mind that for these kinds of pads, you still need a sampler or drum machine.
