You know, D, I had to step back for awhile and reassess. It's not a bad thing to do once in awhile. I did my last real band gig Labor Day weekend, 2004, at an outdoor concert. Here it is May 2006 and I've just booked a festival show for 3 weeks from now, getting the guys back together to see how it feels. I have done acoustic acts as solos and duos in the meantime, but I didn't even do that for about 6 months after taking a break. I had to get to a point where I accepted that it is what it is: I'm not going to be anything, go anywhere, probably won't sell any songs or make any money. And one day I woke up and said "That's okay." And I could go about the business of playing for fun and as a personal challenge to get better simply for the sake of getting better and overcoming fears ( I was always afraid to do a single, and never ever did one until November last year, in spite of playing for nearly 37 years). I'm free from the bondage of feeling cheated. I was able to objectively look at the future of pursuing it with my band and see that it was going to be a never ending series of road gigs, starting over at every level achieved, endless self-promotion and losing money, and always a crap shoot no matter how good we got or how far we went. And I just didn't want to spend the remaining 20 or so good years of my life chasing something as elusive as that. So I laid it down on my own terms, on my own decision. And today, I'm good with it. Members Blackwatch
Thanks P, I'll get there again. It's just a phase I'm sure. I'm trying to get enough energy going to start the next CD. I know I have to do it, I've got alot of material to get recorded, it's just beginning the process......., I know once I do I'll be obsessed with it again.....
