Still here, late as always but here. Hiding in the shadows waiting to pounce. Can old guys pounce?

We can, but all pouncing must be accompanied by an insurance release form stating that even though we know that excessive pouncing does tend to be dangerous, we accept the risk and are willing to inform AARP of our actions.:D

At 43 with 30 plus years playing, do I qualify ? It's good to belong to something.... I think.....

Yes you do qualify...this thread by the way is quite old but has proved very useful in getting us all back together. Go take a look back at the list and you'll find very few members that are recognizable any more, but there are still some of us here.

In this thread you will find out how we started and what it's all about. And should you want to become a member, I can still make an avatar for you. You send me a PM with your email address, and I return it with the avatar attached. My avatar is the latest rendition, but also you have seen the original with Ringo as well. I will also put your name in the certificate and repost it for download.

All you have to do is tell us your story...who you are, your playing experience, anything you'd like to share. Some of us are of the older persuasion, and some are not...(notice I just didn't say YOUNG) There was quite a list at one time...It rubbed some folks the wrong way, saying we were trying to split the group, but that never was ever a problem. We just kinda drifted our own separate ways for the most part...BUT THE CORE IS STILL HERE!

You can say that again. You can't keep track without a score card any more. Yours truly is still here, albeit a little under the weather at the moment.

How the hell you be! Watcha been up to?

Evidently, my OCD has switched me over to guns... been obsessing at Knob Creek gun range as of late. The commonality is that guns and drums both go "BOOM!" Joined the NRA and the local American Legion... The wife and I got back together, so my "play room" has reverted to the family room; only one kit set up these days, and it's back in the basement. LOL Been playing more guitar than drums... basement cause or effect?

Hope you're feeling better!

Well I went to the doc on Saturday, and got some antibiotics. And lo and behold, it turned into pneumonia....like clockwork. Well I can live through that I think...I played an entire 6 night week with 104 fever back in the day. I'm not as durable now, but can still take a licking when I need to (alright, get our guys minds outta the gutter)

But things are good for the most part...my playing is coming up, and the guys here have brought me kicking and screaming into the new millenium. Duct tape shall never touch my new kit...Hof is glad to hear about that and Drumtechdad as well.

DON'T BE SUCH A STRANGER!!!:thu:

Hey take care of yourself Carm. Had a bout with that stuff a while back, killer disease. Hard to kick. Left a lasting impression. By the way I think I found the right forms, think I'll pounce!

Carmine: I can't count how many times I have heard of people DYING from pneumonia or "complications from pneumonia". PLEASE take very good care of yourself for the next month or so. IE: riding your cycle in 30 degree weather. Internet or not, some people really do care and hope your back to 100% soon! (slides soap box away for now)

Geezer Guild member still here! Also be advised that you DO NOT have to be *old* to join. Mostly just drummers that have been playing awhile or have some type of experience to pass on.

SO, a 23 yr old playing a few bars gigs qualifies. Or even a younger person that digs the "oldies" and gets it. Basically if you're not a newbie, you can become a geezer. AND even then, if you dig the older times, you can still join. Is a guild or group that loves to teach, share and rememeber.

I agree. The thing about being old or a "Geezer" is that we all get there. There are those of us, myself included, that refuse to identify with that fact and remain wild and stupid. But age is the thing that as along as you are alive you cannot hide from. So join now or later but join. It's nice to be a part. And it's a great group of guys.

Carmine:

Knightvalin here....I'm still with you and the bretheren known as the GG...in fact, I've been noticing lately in the mirror that what hair I've got left is getting more...erm.....' distinguished'??....anyway, yep, Carmine, Count me here. Am enjoying your Video lessons, but is it possible to get some closer looks at your sticking patterns? move the camera in a bit, perhaps??? Anyway, Carmine, enjoying them immensely, and in a previous thread, if you want to see what some of them ' whippersnappers' are up to, you should check out the new Spock's Beard Live DVD. Nick D'Virgillio and Jimmy Keegan are solid as hell, and the band as a whole are bang on . Anyway, check it out , you might be suprised.

This GG thang got started after I went on a roughly year-long HC hiatus. I came back and all the MFPOD Squadron avatars were replaced with GG avs. I still love the MFPOD and, compared to a lot of these rascals on the message boards, I feel old at 36. Been playing for just over 20 years. I remember when I was playing for 5 years and thought I was the $h1t. Now I can look back and say, "Damn! I WAS the $h1t!". Now I ain't EVEN $h1t!.
