Members Super 8 Posted May 2, 2008 Members Posted May 2, 2008 So what's a Geezer Guild anyway? Are you guys like 'senior discount old', or just playing up the 'over-the-hill old' kinda thing? Do you have membership cards that get you free stuff? Help me out here.
Members Carminemw Posted May 2, 2008 Author Members Posted May 2, 2008 These are the current listings of Geezer Guild members...just a group of older guys who have shared a lot of time in this business...An exlanation of the GG got started is below... Carminemw eatfire Old Steve The Ploughman wmcutter mammynun marko46 Wellhungarian lsits rdrummer322 mraia drumstix robbyg boomboomdrums jive4005 summit111 controlledburn the DW twosticks Sherpakroto KenVinTX blsmn 2bsticks rritter knightvalin bobscrooc Drumtechdad k7mto coyote-1 rayboomboom jim683 animal Chefmike8888 Pearl Player BroadST drumsdb John Flynn Mickey66 HBDrummer polarnewfie Whiplashband BeakerArk Fender Picker DW_Man_TX deverdog Dendy Jarrett Zon5string Sunspot Here's the short and skinny... It all started with me making an off the cuff remark about my age (51) and being a member of the Geezer Guild, one of the old guards. I wanted a thread where us old farts could converse and speak English without having to look everything up just to figure out what was going on. Marko46 got the campaign rolling so to speak. I did the artwork for the avatars and personalized each with their name. And the rest as they say, is history. To become a member you either have to be "older", have a lot of experience in the business, or both. We're open to eveyone who really loves the business like we do. And if anyone fits the criteria and wants to use a custom icon, they send me a PM with their email address. (The PM won't let you tag along graphics.) And I do one up and send it to them. They can use it or not...it's their choice... Sorry...no coupons or give-a-ways...but I do keep updating the certificate and post it for all to use...

Members Chefmike8888 Posted May 2, 2008 Members Posted May 2, 2008 Still here doing the 'ol geezer shuffle. I've just been really busy between work and I'm also doing the recording for a local band's album. Not much time to post but I still stop in on occasion and give a quick once over. Mike

Members Dendy Jarrett Posted May 2, 2008 Members Posted May 2, 2008 Always here and laying low. You guys are the greatest and I truly feel like the GG guys are the glue in the place (not to be referencing glue as in, ... old horse get turned into, ... oh well). As a 45 going on 46 years young, It is a pleasure to be an honorary member. Funny, I still have every Modern Drummer back to 1977. I can pull one out and remember being in High School reading a particular issue behind my science notebook and day dreaming about that Ludwig Octa-plus jelly bean kit.It reminds me of some of the young'ns visiting here and how us mature guys can really be a good influence on keeping the art of drumming alive. You guys all know that I keep really busy being the admin for the entire site of forums and that between playing and having a new baby in the house, I don't get to post as much as I would like. I really appreciate the GG brigade being here and making the drum forum the least problematic on the entire HC site!! You guys are the best. DJ ps: I got a fever for more cowbell!
Members Carminemw Posted May 2, 2008 Author Members Posted May 2, 2008 If the truth be told and Walken was really "the Bruce Dickinson", he shoulda said "smack that puppy with a "1S...not a 5A";)
Members Carminemw Posted May 2, 2008 Author Members Posted May 2, 2008 Hey Dendy...would that be Elmer's or an Epoxy bond? Just trying to get the full ramification of the reference...
Members Dendy Jarrett Posted May 2, 2008 Members Posted May 2, 2008 Well, believe it or not, my glue knowledge can be linked to drumming. When I was involved with Mapex (the US Maple Project) and subsequently, Slingerland/Gibson (the original Studio Kings) and we were looking into better ways to adhere wrapped finishes, ... I learned all anyone could ever want to know about glue.In obscure hardware stores across small town America, you will find real Horse Hide Glue ... often used in wall paper applications and most popular with the creation of Crackle Painted Finishes. And so now you know more than you wanted to know about glue. DJ
Members marko46 Posted May 2, 2008 Members Posted May 2, 2008 Thanks Dendy. It is nice to know that for the most part we don't give you much grief and really police ourselves- that's the brotherhood. Well, 'cept for Carmine's occasional soapbox outbursts.:soapbox: I like it here. My wife still thinks that there must be Porn involved for me to be on the computer that much- Chicks!

Did he call me a horses behind? Don't say it...nope...don't say it!!!
