Members olibernatchez Posted July 29, 2013 Members Posted July 29, 2013 Hi, I've just made a video of me trying new beats, new sounds, .. with music .. let's me know what you think of it!
Members 1001gear Posted July 29, 2013 Members Posted July 29, 2013 Linkynoworky. Has extra HTTP in front. The drumming's ok. Skilled and consistent. Not real musical. The track has a creepy dark vibe, like it's from a horror movie. lolWhere you from? Is that folk music?
Members olibernatchez Posted July 29, 2013 Author Members Posted July 29, 2013 hahaha, cool comment man! I'm from Montreal (Canada).
Members twosticks Posted August 9, 2013 Members Posted August 9, 2013 I like, kinda different and a little disjointed at times, but overall, different and fresh. good work! A floor snare? wow!
Members olibernatchez Posted August 11, 2013 Author Members Posted August 11, 2013 Yeah, a floor/snare .. Just recently trying that and I really love! Actually, I'm working on the tuning a lot ... kinda hard to find the "perfect tuning" for it .. anyways, really fun!
Members johndanielsband Posted August 11, 2013 Members Posted August 11, 2013 I dig it big time man...and a simple but funky way of filming the little snipet too. Off subject a bit; what kind of camera are you using to film this?
Members olibernatchez Posted August 13, 2013 Author Members Posted August 13, 2013 Yo, thanks man ... for the camera, I really don't know .. i'm gonna ask and let you know! Y

Members Dendy Jarrett Posted November 1, 2014 Members Posted November 1, 2014 You actually have some really interesting things going on in here:1) Nice time and feel2) Your inverted crash - hi hat thingy set up, ... I am really digging.3) I am assuming the paper on the floor tom/floor snare is simply for effect purposes?4) In addition to the above mentioned inverted crash-hi hat thingy, do you also use a regular hi-hat? ThanksD
Members 1001gear Posted November 1, 2014 Members Posted November 1, 2014 It's back again. I posted the clip in post 6 in the Microtonal Music thread if you don't mind.
Members 1001gear Posted November 1, 2014 Members Posted November 1, 2014 Hey Dendy, certain videos are vanishing for me. Post 7 here, gone, and back again and just found this one http://www.harmonycentral.com/forum/forum/recording/acapella-146/31295583-seperate-ways-lexington-lab-band#post31295583 missing.
Members olibernatchez Posted December 7, 2014 Author Members Posted December 7, 2014 hey ho, new video, more groovy, longer and with a new concept with the left foot's hi-hat .. :
Members olibernatchez Posted December 7, 2014 Author Members Posted December 7, 2014 Hey, sorry, I think I never saw your comment .. : 1) Thanks a lot , 2) Yea, I like the big hi-hat, I like that I can crash it and stop the resonance whenever I want with the foot. 3) Yep, the paper are for muffing/tuning reasons. 4) I use a regular hi-hat on other videos and on my "regulars" gigs .. the thing with the big hi-hat is that you have some weird overtones .. you can't really hear it with the mix, but yea .. when you play other styles of music .. like softer stuff, you can have some issues with the big hi-hat.
Members 1001gear Posted December 7, 2014 Members Posted December 7, 2014 Has a Brazilian feel to it. Moves better than the polyrhythmic stuff.
Members olibernatchez Posted December 9, 2014 Author Members Posted December 9, 2014 Hey, thanks man!
Members John Pattison Posted December 16, 2014 Members Posted December 16, 2014 I always love hearing something different! Keep it up!
Members rayboomboom Posted December 17, 2014 Members Posted December 17, 2014 Hey Oli, I enjoyed each piece. The last one the best. Great sound and rhythm concepts that go with the music. Who's playing the other instruments?
Members olibernatchez Posted December 18, 2014 Author Members Posted December 18, 2014 Really appreciate your comment man! the who make the music is my friend Charles-David Dubé. check out is stuff: https://lehavremusique.bandcamp.com/
Members olibernatchez Posted January 5, 2015 Author Members Posted January 5, 2015 new video! maybe harder for some people.. but whatever, we experiment with some concepts. was cool to do the little solo at the beginnin .. keeping the hi-hat in three and solo over it on a 4/4 form..
Members olibernatchez Posted February 2, 2015 Author Members Posted February 2, 2015 first of the month = new vid:
Members manoeuver Posted June 13, 2015 Members Posted June 13, 2015 Oli, I love this so much. The music is so delightfully bizarre. Your drumming is what I'd hope mine would sound like if I played for hours a day for a few years. Lots of ideas. Please keep doing stuff.
