Well, there's the obvious, so I'll start there...

Hopefully this will be in the range of what you're looking to hear....

1) Thumb strike/slap

2) Finger(s) pop

3) Hammer-on's from left hand?

This should give you an idea of just exactly how much slapping knowlege I DON'T have!

LOLOLOL!!!

Looking forward to hearing the actual correct answers, of course!

That is what I was looking for, and the first 2 are correct, but in my opinion, the 3rd is incorrect.

2) Pop, chord popping, double stop

3) all i can think of for this is Palm mute for the ultra high frequency or strum for chordial work.

Is i close?

Muting. Yeah. Muting, ghost notes and that sort of thing.

I don't think some people realize exactly how important that is, and it's actually a huge part of it.

If someone asked me to play a slap line, I couldn't do it. Even the song at the start of the video I posted is full of muted notes.

Cool, sometimes called dead notes or a precussive attack, i sometimes use either hand for them, pat the strings with the left for a deeper bumph rather than a clickish bumph.

With a palm mute pop you can get that high freq. squeal like a g**tar.

bumph :D

Funny thing is, in the past week, when I've put my mind to it just a teensy little bit more, I have all of a sudden without even trying acheived quite a bit of progress with slap. I can't slap anything really complicated. I can incorporate a bit more slap into my fingerstyle bass lines when I feel like it. I'm more comfortable overall. I'm not properly versatile with slap, but I can feel progress.

And I think it was all down to a subtle "get ur arse into gear slapping hands" from my brain after reading this thread! Thanks! :thu::)

I'm not even going to try any of the amazing suff at the moment... just giving it some time first.
