Members phunkyhick
I remember many great conversations about bass distortion, POD's, and Jeff Ament's tone on Yellow Ledbetter; among other things like how to be the best bassist for a band and not for yourself. Never actually met the guy, but {censored}. I never saw that coming. I definitely liked the guy. That is real sad. Send one out to his kids. Members Moody Johnny
I don't remember much of his posts, but this is a saddening thread nevertheless. It's always terrible when someone is doomed to carry such weight inside that they just cannot take it anymore.

CMS Author Craig Vecchione Posted January 10, 2006 CMS Author Share Posted January 10, 2006 metalbob, do you think Joe's family would like to see this message thread at some point in the future? It's obvious that even in an anonymous place like this forum Joe had a positive impact. We all take solace in different ways, so I thought I'd put it out there for consideration. Members niomosy
I met him at the (attempted) SoCal bass meet. Nice guy. We chatted over a beer then went looking for anyone else from HCBF (hence the "attempted" ) What a shame. I know he'd been bouncing around a bit and whatnot. Truly a shame. Members JC Bass
Proud swagger out of the schoolyard Waiting for the world's applause Rebel without a conscience Martyr without a cause Static on your frequency Electrical storm in your veins Raging at unreachable glory Straining at invisible chains And now you're trembling on a rocky ledge Staring down into a heartless sea Can't face life on a razor's edge Nothing's what you thought it would be All of us get lost in the darkness Dreamers learn to steer by the stars All of us do time in the gutter Dreamers turn to look at the cars Turn around and turn aroud and turn around Turn around and walk the razor's edge Don't turn you back And slam the door on me It's not as if this barricade Blocks the only road It's not as if you're all alone In wanting to explode Someone set a bad example Made surrender seem all right The act of a noble warrior Who lost the will to fight And now you're trembling on a rocky edge Staring down into a heartless sea Done with life on a razor's edge Nothing's what you thought it would be All of us get lost in the darkness Dreamers learn to steer by the stars All of us do time in the gutter Dreamers turn to look at the cars Turn around and turn aroud and turn around Turn around and walk the razor's edge Don't turn you back And slam the door on me No hero in your tragedy No daring in your escape No salutes for your surrender Nothing noble in your fate Christ, what have you done? All of us get lost in the darkness Dreamers learn to steer by the stars All of us do time in the gutter Dreamers turn to look at the cars Turn around and turn aroud and turn around Turn around and walk the razor's edge Turn around and walk the razor's edge Turn around and walk the razor's edge Don't turn your back And slam the door on me _______________________________________________ He should have listened to the words... Members venturawest
you know what really bothers me? the pictures. i didn't know jpo personally, but i liked his posts, and i enjoyed his comments. it's like an abstraction. until you see the pictures - and i realise this man, whom i didn't know personally, was real. and he has real survivors, and real children left at home. and he was obviously in real, real pain. it breaks my heart. RIP.
