Members murtaghstyle Posted May 30, 2005 Members Posted May 30, 2005 Preferably rackmount but I can be floor based too. I was looking at the Line 6 Bass Pod Pro XT but it's pricey and lots of bass palyers seem to dislike Line 6 since they go all out for guitar and do nothing for bass stuff. What else is out there? Is the behringer uniot any good?
Members acwild Posted May 31, 2005 Members Posted May 31, 2005 I'm using a GNX4. Nobody seems to mention this unit, but it's really great sounding and flexible. Bass patches are included as well as guitar. It also handles dynamic and condenser mics if you sing, has a credible drum machine and has a whole slew of other features. You only asked about the bass stuff, so I'll stick with that. There's a bunch of bass amps and cab sims but you can get some good results using guitar amps and cabs with your bass too. Updates and patches are free although there doesn't seem to be many bassists who use this. The X-Edit software is awesome for dialing in your own sounds. It's much more versatile than using the warping feature within the unit itself. This is the key to all of the rave reviews for great tones.
Members januaryscar Posted May 31, 2005 Members Posted May 31, 2005 stay away from behringer...line 6 make fine bass stuff...digitech make affordable 'reasonable sounding' units... not sure if they are rack mountable
Members Cortfan Posted May 31, 2005 Members Posted May 31, 2005 Line 6 Bass Pod XT Live, or a Boss GT-6B, in that order.
Members shelbass Posted May 31, 2005 Members Posted May 31, 2005 I have the Boss GT-6B and it is immensely powerful, though somewhat difficult to navigate. But if you spend time with it, it can acheive almost anything. I have had a play with the Boss ME-50B, which has most of the effects of the GT-6B, without the amp/speaker sim. This one is easer to use, akin to a stomp box interface. These units are kinda considered industry standard now.Boss and Roland tend to have the bulk of the market.Good product though.
