Members burdizzos Posted May 31, 2005 Members Posted May 31, 2005 I shipped a Peavey RQ2310 to a guy from an ebay auction. I packed it well and the good old USPS still managed to break it. I've got the claims forms, my receipt and the insurance ticket. How hard are they to deal with and should I expect satisfaction in a reasonable amount of time?

Good luck and tell us what you learn.

Members takeout Posted June 1, 2005 Members Posted June 1, 2005 Easier than UPS. Then again, a proctological exam is easier than filing a claim with UPS.
Members circuitspore Posted June 1, 2005 Members Posted June 1, 2005 i actually had USPS to give me more money for my claim than i asked for. i got a p-bass special of ebay, and when it got to me, the tone control was dead, and the neck had some finish cracking down the skunk-stripe. the seller refuses to pay for the tone pot, b/c he said it worked when he packed it and it wasn't his fault. long story short, i had the neck fixed and tone pot replaced. filled out the insurance forms, put the receipt for the repairs, only asked to be reimbursed for the tone pot (seller paid for the neck fix). the claim was that "the instrument got thrown around enough to cause something to dislodge in the potentiometer and stop functioning". yeah, i know, crock o' sh!te. 2 months later, i get a check for the full amount of both repairs. stupid USPS.
Moderators Kindness Posted June 1, 2005 Moderators Posted June 1, 2005 I bought a bass off of eBay that got trashed on its way to me from Florida via USPS. My claim went straight through and I got my check in literally days. I was going to call in a favor from a contact on the postal rate commission, but no clout was needed. It should be an easy process.
Members Detox Posted June 1, 2005 Members Posted June 1, 2005 Thanks ever so much for the anecdotes, guys. Just this afternoon I packed my Mustang bass in a box and sent it to Southpaw Guitar via USPS. I'll sleep well tonight.
