Sure, he deserves lots of credit, but for him to claim that he "owns" the name and the others couldn't use it without him was completely ridiculous. If anyone should have that particular honor, it'd be Syd, but we know what happened there.

Well said. Pink Floyd with the original members was the sum of all of its parts. As much as I like Waters writing, his ego and childish antics really annoy me and if this reunion is true, if anyone is going to make it dificult I know who my money is on...

Just when I thought you were as cool as one person could possibly be, you do something to one-up yourself.

Pre-show, I threw the drummer off stage for not having a stage pass (had no idea who he was) and he actually left. When he can back he smiled and nodded at me. NICE guy. I also inadvertantly started the second part of the show early (they actually had a half time break) by shining my flashlight at the lighting towers erected in the middle of the stadium (checking someone on stage). The lights came up, the band came running, I got dressed down by my boss. Twas one of the most memorable nights of my life but that was also due to my girlfriend after the show. :D

That's really cool that Nick Mason didn't lose his {censored} on you.

As far as starting the second half of the show early, didn't they realize you were in charge?;)

Ah yes, memories...:D

The dude SMILED and at me and waved with his sticks! I guess I was lucky he appreciated me doing my job. Most celebrities would probably have tried to get me fired in the same situation, I was not polite in the least. :D

I'm sure he respected you for doing your job so thoroughly.

What if he was a guy that looked like Nick Mason and you just let him back there and he was a psycho killer?

Thanks Lug for saving Nick Mason's life?:D:cool:

Oddly enough, I don't remember any of them acting the slightest bit "off". Probably projected as much professional demeaner back stage as any band I ever saw. There were some pyrotechnic problems during the first half and they were talking to some techs at the midpoint, no screaming or cussing, or thowing of things. Sorry. :(

So, no brown M&M's?:D

Actually, I've heard that about them - that they are the finest of gentlemen and always carry themselves with an air of propriety. Good for them. And good for you, by the way, for doing your job well. Except for the whole starting the second early thing...:D

I love PF and hope they tour. But face it, the bottom line is how much $ will they make if they tour. I'd see them if they toured (and I'd take my kids too).

No tour.

The band said they would perform for charity, for a good cause.

Peter Gabriel performed with Genesis in the 80s for a charity event, and no tour came out of it. Rogers would play with PF for a charity event, but don't expect a tour. The Beatles were offered millions to reunite and tour, they turned that down.

As much as I love Pink Floyd, I'd rather they not sell out & tour for money than turn into greedy bastards who milk their fans for all they can get (not naming any names - *cough*Pixies*cough*).

I'm sure we'll see a DVD soon after. They'll probably pre-sell with package deals to garner even more funds. At least it's for a good cause, unlike the "Eddie smoked and drank too much, so help pay for his mouth cancer bills" tour.

There are no "funds". I could be mistaken, but as far as I can determine the concert is free, the bands are playing for free so how does this generate any "funds"? I'll be glad to see Pink Floyd back together for any reason, but don't be fooled into thinking this is a charity event. It's not intended to raise a single dime for Africa. It's a publicity stunt to shame the world's richest countries (aka the USA) into giving away all of their money.

I still love the SNL bit where George Harrison gets upset about Lorne Michaels not paying the full $3000 for him showing up...

"$750 is pretty chintzy" :D

I heard a rumor that Bob Geldof actually initiated the whole thing. He called Waters.. Waters called Gilmour and they all agreed.

If we're lucky, maybe they'll all get along well enought to reform and put another true PF album out. (I hope I hope I hope)
