Members Bonoman Posted June 12, 2005 Author Members Posted June 12, 2005 I'm freaking out right now! I think I'm having a heart attack!!!
Members greenshag Posted June 12, 2005 Members Posted June 12, 2005 "Any squabbles Roger and the band have had in the past are so petty in this context, and if reforming for this concert will help focus attention then it's got to be worthwhile." nice to see they are puttin aside their petty issues for a greater cause....too bad they are not touring together, as I have never seen Pink Floyd together in a some what original form.
Members Joey Joe Joe Posted June 12, 2005 Members Posted June 12, 2005 So will this show be on PPV or something?? Jamie, are you going to this concert?
Members 1tallbassguy Posted June 12, 2005 Members Posted June 12, 2005 One of my favorite bands of all time.
Members bassplayinguy Posted June 12, 2005 Members Posted June 12, 2005 as happy as i am about this , i doubt they will tour, its prolly a one time show type thing
Members greenshag Posted June 12, 2005 Members Posted June 12, 2005 Originally posted by bassplayinguy as happy as i am about this , i doubt they will tour, its prolly a one time show type thing yup, but there is always the DVD to be released....
Members gretschzildjian Posted June 12, 2005 Members Posted June 12, 2005 Yeah, just heard about this!!! Anybody goin' to the Live 8 gig?
Members seccho Posted June 12, 2005 Members Posted June 12, 2005 Pink Floyd is one of my favorite all time bands. I hope they have such a killer time jamming together that they decide to tour. I'm not going to hold my breath, though, but a man can dream...
Members bassguy Posted June 12, 2005 Members Posted June 12, 2005 we can all dream that if they have a good time getting ready for this gig, that they will tour...too bad they will never come to ottawa...

Heh...Reports are already that they've fought nearly every rehersal and Waters has walked out on rehersal at least once...
Members bassguy Posted June 12, 2005 Members Posted June 12, 2005 what did they fight about to make them break up? they are only the worlds most popular band, and the wall is the biggest selling album of all time. it would have to be pretty hardcore to get me to leave a band like that

Both The Eagles Greatest Hits and Thriller have sold more than the Wall (28 and 26 million respectively to the Wall's 23) And the Beatles have sold the most albums of all time at 166 million to Pink Floyd's 73...In fact, Elvis, Zepplin, Garth Brooks, the Eagles, and Billy Joel have all sold more albums than Pink Floyd...
Members bholder Posted June 12, 2005 Members Posted June 12, 2005 Originally posted by bassguy what did they fight about to make them break up?... Mostly, about Roger's self importance. He pretty much saw it as "his" band, with the other members being mere supporting cast. Kind of annoyed everyone else.

But when you look at who wrote their most seminal works, Roger's self-importance is very well deserved.
Members Benjamin Posted June 13, 2005 Members Posted June 13, 2005 Originally posted by Bonoman But when you look at who wrote their most seminal works, Roger's self-importance is very well deserved. That's the way I see it. Pink Floyd was far less substantial with Roger missing, and you can pick up the same vibe when Nick and Rick were playing bit-parts. Roger definitely drove the overall feelings behind the music. Seeing him perform in concert backed that up. I would like to see them do something together and get over it. It sounds like it is already too intense. Don't ya wish that would just drive it out of the stratosphere rather than force it to self-destruct?
Members sunburstbasser Posted June 13, 2005 Members Posted June 13, 2005 http://yesfans.com/forum/showthread.php?t=20865 I saw this in the Yesfans forums already. Supposedly both camps are stating that their is no truth to the rumors of a tour.
Members the hammer Posted June 13, 2005 Members Posted June 13, 2005 I bet that they are very carefully watching the return figures for the Rolling Stones tour. If enough money gets waved at them I bet we'll hear more about a tour

Members bholder Posted June 13, 2005 Members Posted June 13, 2005 Originally posted by Bonoman But when you look at who wrote their most seminal works, Roger's self-importance is very well deserved. Well, he was definitely the main writer, but few of those songs would've been anywhere near as good without Gilmour's involvement - his singing, lyrical guitar work, and yes, occasional bass playing contributed more to the overall sound than Roger ever wanted to admit. Sure, he deserves lots of credit, but for him to claim that he "owns" the name and the others couldn't use it without him was completely ridiculous. If anyone should have that particular honor, it'd be Syd, but we know what happened there.
Members bassballs Posted June 13, 2005 Members Posted June 13, 2005 I pray they find it in them to put the past and their ego's a side long enough to treat us to a small U.S. tour. I relize how unlikely that is but still, I pray.
