Precision bridge cover question

Quick question on the bridge cover for the P bass. Is it low as in just above the bridge? I pick a lot and it looks like it would be comfortable as a hand rest. But Ive yet to play a bass with one on so I dont know how high it sits on the body.

Are the generic ones that the Mighty-Mite type of places sell just as good the Fender ones?

I have experience with P basses with covers. I can't tell you exactly how high they rest atop the strings precisely, however, I can tell you that both the bridge and pickup covers sit at a height which is very comfortable to rest your palm on (if so inclined).

Concerning the Mighty Mite and other generic brand covers - I haven't the slightest idea. My experience has only been with the Fender covers. I'd be surprised if there was a great degree of difference in their dimensions, though.

Just do the test, record with and without. It ain't voodoo esoterism, you clearly hear it.

I haven't noticed if the PU cover changed anything.
