Members scythe Posted June 13, 2005 Members Posted June 13, 2005 Well? Is it a word for ~condemned or something?
Members basshunter Posted June 13, 2005 Members Posted June 13, 2005 Hey Daniel!!!!! Do you mean "sentence"? Sentence (in this context) is the punishment handed down to a criminal, as in "Joe was sentenced to death" or "He was sentenced to 10 years in prison" or "THey thought the death penalty was too good for him, so they sentenced him to a lifetime listening to lug MP3s"
Members scythe Posted June 13, 2005 Author Members Posted June 13, 2005 Our drummer claims that it's an old word for like "condemned" or something. He found it in a dictionary from the fifties or something. And apparently, we've made a band name out of it.
Members saiyr Posted June 13, 2005 Members Posted June 13, 2005 Onelook.com says nothing.Google says "Centen, siehe: Zentner"
Members Incubitabus Posted June 13, 2005 Members Posted June 13, 2005 Sentence can also be a noun. "The prisoner will serve a sentence of 10 years", which could alternatly read "The prisoner will be condemed for 10 years"...
