Stupid PA Question

Yessir, that's what you'll want to do. You might even want to use a balanced TRS cable if the mixer has TRS outs and the amp has TRS inputs.

Actually they're TRS jacks very often. Since they're line level there isn't much loss.

On my cheap mixer, their 1/4" which I assume is TRS. It is true though that my amp has both on the inlet. I still don't have the PA cabs yet though. I'm hoping my wife comes through for Father's Day. I'm just messing around now and will likely hook up my bass cabs for fun.

It all depends on the output connectors on the mixer and the input connectors on the power amp. I prefer a balanced XLR to XLR connection for the quietest signal possible. Keep in mind that you may need to adjust the input sensitivity on the power amp to get maximum output using an unbalnaced signal.
