Members burdizzos Posted June 15, 2005 Members Posted June 15, 2005 My guitarist called me today and quit. He's been working with another band for a couple of months and has decided to play with them full time and walk away from our project because he didn't have the time for both. I'm not pissed, surprised or disappointed which means that it's probably best that it happened. Now I need to find another guitar player. What's the best way to go about this? Should I grab a rock, walk into my local Guitar Center, spin three times and throw? Should I take out an ad?
Members oneinchshawn Posted June 15, 2005 Members Posted June 15, 2005 I had the same thing happen. Taking a shot in the blank never worked out for me, it's always better, if you can, to find someone you know that plays guitar to fill in, even if it's just till you find a permanent replacement.
Members zachoff Posted June 15, 2005 Members Posted June 15, 2005 I post on musicmates.com when I'm looking. I've not seen very many good guitar players at Guitar Center. If you go that route, check out the botique stores. You can normally put up musician ads in those types of places as well.

Lott, and Egoman Iac.
Members burdizzos Posted June 15, 2005 Author Members Posted June 15, 2005 I guess I should have kept the Unibass.

Members Zeromus-X Posted June 15, 2005 Members Posted June 15, 2005 If you've got any shows coming up that you need a fill-in for, I'd be more than happy to do it -- done it for a few bands around here in the past, and I've got plenty of stacks of guitar {censored} at my disposal.

Nope, we've got nothing. I suppose I'll be methodical about it and make sure I get a person who will put as much into it as I will.
Members BEAD Posted June 15, 2005 Members Posted June 15, 2005 I'm probably 0 for 10 or so as far as meeting people through the internet or the newspaper. I'm 2 for 2 with people I already knew were cool people.
