Members Thunderbroom Posted June 16, 2005 Members Posted June 16, 2005 The Insomniacs brief mention in another thread that his band has played Prince's "Let's Go Crazy" as a set closer is the inspiration for this thread. What's yours? I realize most of you are doing multiple sets. I'm looking for the one song that rules the school when you use it to close. My submission from my rock band:Barracuda - Heart My country band plays it's first two gigs in July and August. Here's our set closer:Shook Me All Night Long - AC/DC

Members L-1329 Posted June 16, 2005 Members Posted June 16, 2005 There's a local band called 7th Heaven that plays all around here, that I saw once. they closed their show with a medley of a ton of rockin tunes. Not whole songs, but enough to get the flavor of each one in. They had a lot in there, and it was super high energy and it just got the whole crowd into the show! I would have never guessed that a medley would be that effective but everyone there heard something they really liked and they rocked the house. Good show, I would recommend checking them out, and they seem to play a lot all over the area.

Our setlist order changes every 2 or 3 shows, but currently our closers are: 1st: Some Kind of Wonderful - Grand Funk RR2nd: Call Me the Breeze - Skynyrd3rd: Can't You See - Marshall Tucker I love ending the show on a slow note---gets all the drunks out on the dance floor grabbin' their chicks ass and it usually turns into one big sing along. My keyboard player has a preset that nails the flute perfectly and it sounds great.

Members no-logic Posted June 16, 2005 Members Posted June 16, 2005 We use "Slow Ride" by Foghat and roll into "Black Betty" by Ram Jam in the middle of it and back into the very end of "Slow Ride" as our finale. Works great.

Members ezstep Posted June 16, 2005 Members Posted June 16, 2005 One of two songs, usually: "Night Life" written by Willie Nelson. We play a really jazzed-up version of it. I have never heard another band play any version quite like it. or 3-in-1 medley: "Foggy Mountain Breakdown" leading into "Rolling in my Sweet Baby's Arms" for about three verses plus leads and finishing with a couple of verses of "Rocky Top." The whole medley lasts 6-8 minutes. Our guitarist uses a finger roll much like a banjoist and gets a trebly sound that really sounds like a banjo. And, he can pick. People will get up and "clog" or "round dance" to it.
Members picker13 Posted June 16, 2005 Members Posted June 16, 2005 We always end on a slightly extended version of "I Heard It On The X"
Members tdempsey Posted June 16, 2005 Members Posted June 16, 2005 1st set typically ends with Alannis "You Ought to Know". Our singer owns this one and all the angry chicks relate. Usually end the night wiht Zep, either: "What Is And What Should Never Be" or "Ramble On" or "Misty Mountain Hop". Including the band, people truly love to hear Zep being covered.
