Members reaper Posted June 21, 2005 Members Posted June 21, 2005 hey all, i play guitar but i've been thinking on picking up bass to. Are crate amps at all decent? Their guitar amps are pretty so-so but my friend says there the best thing you can get. I have a little doubt bc of their guitar stuff but maybe they make good bass stuff. I'm not looking to spend alot but i need to be able to keep up with a drummer. thanks
Members 12StringThunder Posted June 21, 2005 Members Posted June 21, 2005 they are not bad for inexpensive stuff, they are much better than behringer
Members ianick Posted June 21, 2005 Members Posted June 21, 2005 They are owned by the same company that owns Ampeg.
Members zachoff Posted June 21, 2005 Members Posted June 21, 2005 I wouldn't get Crate. For a similar price you could get Ashdown MAG, Peavey, Gallien Krueger and Yorkville... All of which I believe are better than Crate. I've owned two Crate combos. One (the 15w practice combo) I still own and it cuts out every so often but it's almost 15 years old so what can you expect? The other one was a 100W 1x15 combo and the speaker was fart-happy and it couldn't hold up in a band situation (though not many 100W combos can). Still... For much, much less than I paid for the Crate I picked up a used Yorkville combo that totally kicked the Crate's ass.
Members BEAD Posted June 22, 2005 Members Posted June 22, 2005 crate stuff isn't as bad as people usually say it is, but it isn't much better.
