Recording Bass direct to PC

I'm looking to record bass guitar onto my PC (using Cubase).

Should I use a POD or the Sansamp BDDI?

the chain would be:

bass --> POD or Sansamp --> Behringer Mixer --> PC

does it matter which one I use? I could don't need crazy effects, although a simple chorus and distortion would be very nice.

its kinda of a newbie-ish question, i know, but any help would be much appreciated!

Line6 bass pod=big and boomy big ol sound

Sansamp BDDI=nice and clear and direct but fits in just right

I don't want to decide for you, ask around for some clips

I usually just plug the Line in from my sound card into the headphone jack of my amp and then just plug in my bass and play.. the sound (to me) is surprisingly clear if you can record it at the right level.. I have 2 active guitars

an Active Dean Edge 5

the tone is nice, just straight up bass no color no extra

I do sometimes piddle with the tone with some of the effect settings in the program after I record the bass

i run the direct out from my amp so i can use it as a preamp. It sounds pretty good, but I have yet to try it with my new BBE in the chain.
