Members KeroseneTrewthe Posted July 1, 2005 Members Posted July 1, 2005 Seriously. This is kinda a long story and I wont go into too much detail so anyway... A year ago, I received terrible service from my local music store. I boycotted the store and then I felt compelled to give them another shot. They are the little guy in the business and would rather them succeed than GC. So I go back and buy a pickup. Some of you have heard this part of the story. The pickup was junk and I took it back to exchange it. I ended up being insulted by the owner by him telling me I did something to pickup to make it not work. I got my money back. And the next day sent him a letter. 2 days later I get a letter back with apologies. And a $40 gift certificate. Very cool of him and I sucked it up and went there to patch things up.So tonight I went in to get a guitar case. He pulls out a Squier Bass case and its decent, Im not picky, I just wanted a cheap one and I figure with my 40 the case should only cost me 20 or so. He tells me it'll be 65 and Im like cool. Heres the gift certificate and everything.Well, he charged me the list price of the case and I owed him 65 on top of the 40. I was so ticked that i just paid the money and walked out. Im a totally non-confrontational person but once I reach a point it wouldnt have been pretty. I usually need to cool off for the day and deal with it later. So he knew what he was doing and took his 40 and got squared away. I know its my fault for being an idiot and letting it happen but I just dont deal with this crap well. I'll call him tomorrow and just ask as a person if he'll match Musiciansfriends price on a case. If he will (and I know he does, because he told me friend he will) back I go.
Members Ender_rpm Posted July 1, 2005 Members Posted July 1, 2005 I hate to say it, but he seems to deserve going under. Some local shops are worth saving, some not so much.
Members mounds Posted July 1, 2005 Members Posted July 1, 2005 wow. what a dick. sounds like everyone should boycott his ass.
Members s4001 Posted July 1, 2005 Members Posted July 1, 2005 What a jerk. When GC buries him in a shallow grave, I'm sure he'll lament about how the big corporation did him in instead of his own business practices.
Members gazman Posted July 1, 2005 Members Posted July 1, 2005 you went back there three times? after:a.) poor customer serviceb.) poor products first time shame on him, second time shame on you, i dont wanna go for three.
Members Cortfan Posted July 1, 2005 Members Posted July 1, 2005 So, you're telling us that you paid $105 for a Squier Bass Case. I think GC or MF would beat that, without the insult. I went to our GC today to pick up my repaired bass, and had a very good experience. I saw some fine looking ladies while I was there, too.
Members beav2k2 Posted July 1, 2005 Members Posted July 1, 2005 Dude, with survice like that you should go to GC. I would in a heartbeat. The guy obivously doesn't understand that he's on thin ice being located around a GC. He obivously doesn't care about customers so forget him.
Members NeonVomit Posted July 1, 2005 Members Posted July 1, 2005 Not all small buisinesses are good. With practices like that, he deserves to go under. Rule #1: The customer is always right. Ring a bell?
Members Rippin' Robin Posted July 1, 2005 Members Posted July 1, 2005 This guy should go under for being a total asshole. GC and MF may be the 'evil bad guys' but it's still better than getting ripped off AND getting junk and horrible service.
Members KeroseneTrewthe Posted July 1, 2005 Author Members Posted July 1, 2005 Oh my gosh, one of the freakin locks on the case broke. This is a good thing. Im going in there today demanding a refund and that'll be the end of it. Yeah, he deserves to lose business.

Yeah, I know. I get great service from my GC here. I just wanted to help the little men out. But forget it now.
Members Perfessor Posted July 1, 2005 Members Posted July 1, 2005 I bought an all metal travel bass case that Washburn used to sell for $80 early last year. They stopped making them 2 years ago but they still come up on eBay.

They are $60 at MF, I found out when I got home. Thus the reason I was going to call him today. But since the case is already junk Im just getting a refund and hitting GC. *sigh*

It's his loss!
