The circuit protects speakers from possibly damaging power spikes during operation. If you're using speaker cabinets that are rated below the amp's recommended impedance rating (probably 2-4 ohms) then that would definitely cause the circuit to become active a whole lot sooner than usual. However, if your cabs are above the recommended rating, then I doubt the quality of the cabs themselves would have anything to do with the circuit activating. What kind of cabs are you using with this head (4 ohm, 8 ohm, how many, etc)? For more info, you might want to check out the manual here: http://www.peavey.com/support/searchmanuals/list/firebass700.cfm Hope this helps!
Members Bluescout Posted July 7, 2005 Author Members Posted July 7, 2005 I run an unknown 15 with an EV-15L, and an old Sonic 410 with probably 200 watt rating, both 8 ohm. It just seems that even with my low output yamaha, I'll leave my post volume up around 8 and can't get the pre-volume past maybe 4. I thought maybe the DDT could detect that the speakers were pushed past their limit.
