Members 1tallbassguy Posted July 7, 2005 Members Posted July 7, 2005 First impressions. Its heavy! About the size of a 4x10 cab. Built in the road ready type flight case, with front cover as well. In good condition except when I unpacked the shipping box, and took the flight case cover off, the metal grill/ guard came off of it. The screws had worn the holes out and there was no bite left. Usually I would jam some toothpicks in the holes and put em back in, but the holes were too shallow. So I went and bought new stainless screws 1/4" longer. This fixed the problem. The construction and build quality is excellent, probably overdone, as was the 6x10 Mesa cab I used to have. These two cabs sound like brothers. Did not come with the casters, so I will probably buy some from the website. The sound is very good. Gets good low end, and great mids. Able to reach high volumes as well. This cab can easily hold its own. I stacked my Ampeg 4x8 cab on top of it, and now were talkin! Each of these cabs are rated at 8 oms, but I measured resistance and get about 6 ohms each from both of these cabs. My GBE600 can handle them well. Overall I am pleased with the new Mesa. Its a keeper. I need to sell some of these other cabs, maybe the Yorkie and for sure the Peavey. I need to think things over, but if interested, shoot me an IM.

How do I measure impedance?
Members SpaceGhost Posted July 7, 2005 Members Posted July 7, 2005 Very cool, I was hoping you'd review the cab. Do you know how much it weighs? (about).
Members burdizzos Posted July 7, 2005 Members Posted July 7, 2005 Impedance is reactive load to an AC source. Resistance is DC resistance to current flow. Get aknown AC voltage source, attach it to your speaker and put your meter in series. Measure the current. R = E/I R is resistance, but in this case it's impedance. E is voltage and I is current.

Members illidian Posted July 7, 2005 Members Posted July 7, 2005 Glad you like it. I would take that Yorkville off your hands, but it's a bit heavy. Maybe you want to work something out with the GBE600 instead? Looking forward to a more in-depth review soon!
Members james on bass Posted July 7, 2005 Members Posted July 7, 2005 Very nice lookin' rig. I'd be interested in the Yorkie cab, but I think shipping from Texas would be a little expensive.
