Members the_big_geez Posted July 7, 2005 Members Posted July 7, 2005 He's playing a the Newport Music Hall -a delighful little cave-like, yet legendary venue in Columbus next Thursday. Ticket-bastard has tix for an Andy-Jack, (plus their usurious 'service charges, which oughta put it up around $30/seat...) And then there's the inflated beer prices... And the new-fangled smoking ban... Ahh, {censored} it! I guess I already talked myself out of it, unless somebody can make a truly compelling argument to the contrary.
Members Jonny Five Posted July 7, 2005 Members Posted July 7, 2005 He playing with Frog Brigade? I've seen him a couplea times. he puts on a really fun live show.
Members Retrovertigo Posted July 7, 2005 Members Posted July 7, 2005 GO!!!!!!!!!!!!i've never seen him with primus/frog brigade, but i did see him with Gabby La La at bonnaroo. his stage presence is incredible, i would give up smoking for a few hours to be able to go to that show. *lights up last camel* claypool never comes within a reasonable distance from my town, so i'm gonna have to save awhile before i can afford the road trip/tickets to go see him. GO!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Members vanlatte Posted July 7, 2005 Members Posted July 7, 2005 I have seen Les three times now; twice with Frog Brigade and once with Primus. I would go again in a heartbeat, always a fun show.
Members Geddy'sFavHeadache Posted July 7, 2005 Members Posted July 7, 2005 and then tell him GFH said "Hey Les... how's it goin dude?"
Members the_big_geez Posted July 8, 2005 Author Members Posted July 8, 2005 There seems to be decided bias here... Last minute jurors?
Members ImaSmrtBaby Posted July 8, 2005 Members Posted July 8, 2005 i'm gonna go to the lawrence show on saturday (assuming tix are still available). i'll tell you if its worth going to
Members Sixgun77 Posted July 8, 2005 Members Posted July 8, 2005 For 30$ I'd see Claypool in any of his projects. His stage presence rivals that of Kieth Richards.
Members ARES Posted July 8, 2005 Members Posted July 8, 2005 Who is he touring with now? Best I've seen him with was Oysterhead, even if Primus is one of my all time favorites (and reason I play bass ).
Members bapslap Posted July 8, 2005 Members Posted July 8, 2005 I've seen him with Oysterhead, Primus, and C2B3....all were good shows, but I guess I've tired of his "hick-like rapping" over oompah bass lines. The best parts of all of the shows is when he shuts up and just plays bass...IMO.
Members tdempsey Posted July 8, 2005 Members Posted July 8, 2005 I actually don't care for his style. Saw him open for U2 with Primus and he was out-classed... Particularly didn't like his arrogant quote that he thought he would get the call from The Who when Entwistle passed.
Members birdboy7007 Posted July 8, 2005 Members Posted July 8, 2005 I'd go. The man has style, albeit weird and a little awkward. I'd just like to see him live at least once. And 30$, hell yes!
Members Morpheus Posted July 9, 2005 Members Posted July 9, 2005 I would definately go, I've seen primus 3 times. Always a fun gig, and you'll jump around like pogo stick I still dont get how he plays with his bass practically parallel to the floor & pulls off his chops flawlessly without even lookin at it and spits those bizzare vocals. He's just a natural freak of nature. eg
