Members SA Rios Posted July 11, 2005 Members Posted July 11, 2005 I sold my ampeg 410 and am picking up an eden 210xlt today, mainly to save my back. I have an Ashdown ABM500 thats rated at 575 watts at 4 ohms. I have a choice of the eden 210 in 4 or 8 ohms, both rated at 350 watts. Asuming that Ashdowns are efficient amps, I would be out putting 340-360 watts into the 8 ohm eden, and about 550-575 into the 4 ohm eden. The 8 ohm cab is the perfect match, but if I went with the 4 ohm version, would I be putting too much power into the cab and would the loudness be that much more noticeable?
Members J the D Posted July 11, 2005 Members Posted July 11, 2005 The 8 ohm unit will have better transient response and your amp will run at a lower load factor. There is only about a 1dB increase from 350 to 550 watts.
Members bassplayer7770 Posted July 11, 2005 Members Posted July 11, 2005 Out of curiosity, do you ever plan on adding another cab? Like J said, I'd likely go with the 8 ohm cab in your situation...
Members SA Rios Posted July 11, 2005 Author Members Posted July 11, 2005 I actually just put the order in. Should arrive thurday:D . I went with the 8 ohm. I probably will add either an eden 12 or 15 depending on how the 210 sounds alone.
