Nice rig! Minus the Spector, isn't that basically the rig Robert DeLeo formerly of STP uses?

Yes, Robert plays Schecter basses, but I didn't know Dean played Schecter guitars...

Diz-am... NICE rig setup! I wanted to get a CA-series amp, but they alone weigh more than my cab, so, eh. :) Had to decide against it!

Congrats! The tone controls on the F-1X are deceptively simple. Bass, mid and treble. How tough could it be...right? Well, the controls are all interactive so adjusting one also changes the characteristics of the others. This makes the possibilities from those three simple controls absolutely mind boggling. The best way I found to begin dialing in your tone is to start with the controls set flat, which on the Alembic is bass = 0, mid = 10 and treble = 0. From there, adjust your bass and treble levels to taste. Personally, I leave the bright switch off. With the bright on there's so much treble it makes my teeth wiggle and that's even with the horns in the cabs turned off. ;)

good points!

FYI Mud and Nasty, 'flat eq' on the F-1X is 2-10-2. I can post some links of folks discussing this who know the F-1X inside and out, if you're interested. Adjust accordingly from there, and as Mud indicated - they are interactive! Example, 10-10-10 would be a 'super smiley faced' eq, etc.

wouldn't 10-0-10 be the super smiley face?

i thought that a 10 on mid would bring them up to flat

i also don't use the bright switch

love the deep switch though

really looking forward to messing with the crossover too

Nope, the mid control is cut only. That's why it's flat with it set on 10.

The crossover in the F-1X is a second order crossover, meaning it cuts by 12db per octave. So, if you want to roll off the bass to your top cab at let's say -24db@100hz, you don't set it at 100hz you set it two octaves higher at 400hz. That'll give you -24db@100hz.

Heh, well the Demeter just doesn't have a crossover to mess with. You can run the Alembic full-range too if you prefer.

I've always wondered just how useful crossovers are for an actual bass-specific rig. I know for PA's it's great, but I donno- thoughts??
