Members vanlatte Posted July 19, 2005 Members Posted July 19, 2005 The remake...what a stupid movie... The original was so much better, why didnt anyone warn me!!!
Members KeroseneTrewthe Posted July 19, 2005 Members Posted July 19, 2005 I'll take this as a warning. To me the previews didnt really show me anything I thought were worthy of going to theater to watch so it'll be a netflix pickup in about 10 months... War of the Worlds was good I thought.
Members greenshag Posted July 19, 2005 Members Posted July 19, 2005 I liked the remake myself, probably the only good remake of a classic to come out as of late....and remember...KILL THE REMAKE!!!
Members Groovin' Hippo Posted July 20, 2005 Members Posted July 20, 2005 Well, to each his own, I guess. that said, I thought the remake, while not really digging any real new ground was killer in one very specific sense. Fast zombies. The speed of the zombies was a revelation for the genre. No more shambling, slo-mo walks. No more "just run from them", types of getaways. I really dug this aspect of the remake. The fast zombie twist added (for me, having seen about a bazillion zombie flicks) a real sense of panic and urgency to all the moves the group of protagonists tried. I really liked the movie, and recommend it often. Sorry you didn't dig it as well.
Members bholder Posted July 20, 2005 Members Posted July 20, 2005 I heard that Tony Orland was making a comeback, even though he's been dead for 20 years. He and his group will know be known as.... "Tony Orlando and Dawn of the Living Dead"! (rimshot, please)
Members MistahMojoRyan Posted July 20, 2005 Members Posted July 20, 2005 Yup, I dug it as well and have recommended it a few times. The zombies freaked me out. They're upgrades in that they're fast but they still can't think well. Land of the Dead should be interesting since they can think (and Romero made it ).
